Hi, is it ok to steam salmon fillets from frozen? I was thinking about popping them in little foil pockets in the steamer as I would in the oven. Anyone know how long it will take? They are thin fillets maybe 1cm thick. Ta

Personally I'd thaw them first...if they're still in their package you can just put them in a bowl of water...they thaw pretty fast. You could try it though...I'd just think you're likely to have a very cool center.

I would thaw them, too. At 1cm they'll probably thaw in 15 minutes unwrapped on a plate.

Also, I would skip the foil for steaming unless you need it for cleanliness or something. Usually to steam something you want the steam to hit the food. It might take a lot longer to cook it in steam, in foil.
