Rest Day Already?

Hi everyone!
I had been a somewhat regular exerciser this past fall, but I completely fell off the bandwagon between thanksgiving and the new year. I just began exercising again on January 1st with an hour long Zumba class, then again yesterday on the 2nd with a spin class.
Let me tell you, I. AM. SORE.
I would typically work out 5 days in a row before taking a rest day, so even though my body is screaming at me today my mind wants to get itself back to the gym, maybe for some moderate intensity time on the elliptical.
Do you think going back to the gym is a good idea? Will I do more harm than help? Is so much soreness typical after only two workouts?
Thanks for your input!

That kind of soreness can happen if you do too much too soon. Light cardio today should help with recovery.0
