    1. Log everything.
    2. Stick to your calorie goal, and eat half your exercise cals if you're doing the MFP method.
    3. Weigh food with a digital scale.
    4. Read forum threads and learn from people that have lost weight the right way.
    5. Having patience and being realistic go a long way.

    1. Weigh, measure, and log everything you eat to stay under your calorie goal
    2. Determine what your calorie goal actually is (more often than not, it's not 1,200 calories!)
    3. Make exercise a priority in your life. Plan your workouts for the week and don't cancel them; think of it as cancelling plans with a friend. You wouldn't do that, would you?
    4. Make changes slowly: add exercise slowly, lose weight slowly, make diet changes slowly, and in the end, you'll have longer success.
    5. Commit to a lifestyle change, not a diet, cleanse, detox, or whatever is the latest health and fitness fad currently floating around.

Also, have fun and be patient!

    1. Be 100% honest in your logging
    2. Move often. Get some kind of exercise every day.
    3. Don't beat yourself up if you have a bad day/skip a work out. You can't change it after the fact so just move on.
    4. Do not expect overnight results. It didn't take over night to become overweight.
    5. Don't restrict foods. Eat what you like but refer to #1.

Thanks, it appears that all suggestions are very similar! It's hard when you want to see results NOW! I'll have to refer back to this post and read PATIENCE!

Reading about your success stories is very inspiring and very motivational! Thanks again,
