I find it tastes better not made in the crockpot! I make enough for me for 3 days, and put them in single serving dishes so I can easily heat them up in the morning. Favourite combo = (heated up frozen) banana + peanut butter + cinnamon.

I made a steel cut oats/vanilla/cinnamon/raisin crockpot oatmeal once. Smelled amazing, tasted okay... total soggy sticky bleh. I haven't tried it since.

I don't make mine in a crock pot... I put mine in a mason jar and let it sit overnight... it's more like a parfait...

    Pint mason jar
    1/2 c steel cut oats
    1/3 c blueberries
    1/4 c greek yogurt
honey and spices (I like pumpkin pie spice)
    milk

Layer oats, berries, and yogurt. Top with a bit of honey and spice. Pour milk over top. Seal with lid and put in fridge. Should be ready in ~12-24hrs :)

    The recipe I use is:
2 cups oatmeal (NOT quick cooking oats)
    4 cups water
    1/3-1/2 cup brown sugar
Then I like apples & cinnamon, or dried cranberries and walnuts. Cinnamon and pumpkin pie spice is also good

I mix the oats, sugar and fruits together, then add water. Also, I set my crock pot to warm, instead of low like most recipes call for.

Almond milk, dates, dried blueberries, dried cherries, raisins - whatever dried fruit I have around (dates are a must for me - I love them). Some brown sugar and splenda. This time, I screwed up and did not add enough liquid but was able to salvage it - less liquid made it have a little texture (kind of nutty). If it is too mushy, maybe try cutting back on the liquid.

I know some people are put off by the texture but I love the stuff. Many moons ago in college when I had my weight under control, I ate whatever hot cereal they had every morning - cream of wheat, oatmeal, farina, etc. Still love it - even the spooky goopy/soggy stuff.
