I was wondering if anyone knows anything about sleep and weight.

My sleep pattern is really bad, varies completely. when I'm in work I get up half an hour before I need to leave never having breakfast. one week 7am the next 9.30 then weekends I'll have late night and sleep in to 12pm on average. sometimes longer. I have roughly 8hrs sleep a night.

If I start getting up 6.30 and go bed at 10pm would this help control my weight?

I know the breakfast will help anyway just wondering if a set pattern would benefit as well.

Thaks Sara :D

I really don't know a lot about this but I think if you are getting 8 hours of sleep every night that is a great thing. So many adults don't. I do, and I believe it helps me in all areas of life. Whether that 8 hours is from 10 pm to 6 am or from 2-10 am or whatever, I don't really think it makes a big difference unless you have trouble with eating late in the evening or something like that.

That makes it harder for you to control your internal clock. I'm not sure if your circadian rhythm would be affected by this, but I would guess it woudl be? It's always preferable to go to bed at approximately the same time every night and wake up around the same time every day. If you want to change it by an hour that's not a big deal, but much more than that can throw you off.

It may not help you with your weight but it could!

Everyone is different. For me, the more routined and structured I am, the more successful I am in every aspect. You could try to regulate your sleep patterns for a few weeks and see fi that affects your weight or not.

Thanks, I think I will try for a month anyway.

Be a easier way if it does haha

Although I believe having breakfast will make a massive impact in its self.

Breakfast isn't necessary from a weightloss perspective, but a lot of people find that eating in the morning keeps them from overeating later. I usually don't have breakfast since I like to graze all night and like to have extra calories to do so. Not getting enough sleep can hinder you. Fatigue slows you down and reduces a lot of the unconscious movements you make during the day, which can reduce the amount of calories you burn (not by a huge margin, but if you have a thin deficit to begin with, it can make a difference). It can also impair your workout and keep your from working as hard as you otherwise would.
