Ugh another recipe Question...

So I'm making another soup tomorrow.
It's SOUP weather!
The soup is a Stout Beer and Root vegetable slow cooker soup.
The root veggies are rutabaga, turnip, gold beet, celery root (Celeriac), parsnip, large carrot, (then you know water, beer, and some spices in the slow cooker).
So I'm sitting here building the recipe all the root vegetables are listed in the database as raw. All the rest of the choices are like in other dishes or sauteed....
Sometimes the recipe builder is tricky.
How do you guys handle this?

I would imagine that you aren't going to "add" calories to the veggies simply by cooking them so it probably just depends on if you're worried mostly about the nutritional data (meaning your vitamins/mineral info) or just about the caloric/fat/protein/carbs stuff.

If you don't care whether the recipe shows how much vitamin A you're getting from your "Root/Beer" soup, then I'd say you could use the raw vegetable listings (in appropriate amounts to what you're throwing in the crock) and the particular beer you're using and appropriate amount and it will get you into the right ballpark.

If you're worried about nutritional data then you might want to try a search on the official USDA site to see if they have any kind of tables that might tell you how much of the "good stuff" is still in your veggies after you crock 'em. Good luck...

Yeah I think I really only care about the calorie content. (The carbs are coming from veggies and I guess beer lol so I really don't about the veggie carbs)....
