help! what do i call this kind of weight training?

ok so i dont have weights....but i do have cans of food! XD
so what do i call something where i hold the cans of food and curl my arms towards my body (not arm curls...those are apparently on a machine?) and also where i lift them holding them straight out from my body.
i feel kind of stupid not knowing this >_<
help please? i wanna enter them here! because that will keep me accountable to keep doing them (even though they huuuuurt my arms D8 but i know i need to tone up my muscles there because they're non existent! XD)

It generally shouldn't matter whether you're doing an exercise on a machine or with free weights--or with food cans! Most tend to have the same or similar names and burn about the same calories. The main advantages of machines over free weights are (a) you generally don't have things crushing you if you can't finish a rep, and (b) it's sometimes easier to keep good form, since the machine is designed to go in only one direction. That being said, it's always good to have someone knowledgeable work with you when first learning a new exercise, machine or free weights.0 -
