Workouts for Low Back Issues

I need help. I finally have the motivation to lose weight. I lost 16lbs at the end of last year and I'm looking to lose that and more this year. I have low back issues for 15 years now and "threw it out" in September. Sadly, my back hasn't felt the same since then. I went walking and tried to run on Monday and my back is hurting now. Are there any workouts / exercises that I can do to burn calories but not re-injure my back.

Also, always looking for new friends for support. Please add me :)

There are exercises! I have had back issues my whole life. If you're wiling to shell out some cash, get a Yoga ball so you can do modified bridges, arm/leg alternating lifts, and whatever the lady in this picture is doing http://www.spine-health.com/treatment/physical-therapy/exercise-ball-therapy-lower-back-pain-relief

Also, if you have a pool you can go to I really recommend water jogging.

I used to have a lot of back pain. Strength training has pretty much eliminated all of it.
I would suggest strength training back exercises with proper form.
Seek proper form through a personal trainer, a class, youtube, etc.
I hope this helps and you find relief

Also, from what you described, I bet you could get a doctor to prescribe you physical therapy. A good one will have you set for a long time with home exercises.
