Running and Toe Nails

Okay, so I run often and I feel like I'm always losing the same toe nail! I've tried new shoes, different socks, running on the treadmill at an incline, keeping it trimmed short...I feel like I've tried everything. Are there any runners out there that can give some other ideas on how to make this stop. I feel like I'm always trying to grow the same toe nail back. When it finally gets to a point where it starts to look semi-normal again, it starts to turn a different color and then off it goes. I know it's gross, but it happens, ha ha. Thanks!!
