    I SUSPECT that the deficit calculation should be a percentage - those 'biggest loser' or whatever shows you have over there show people losing massive amounts at once and probably fairly safely - but they have loads to lose.
    Think of it like, say, trying to empty a pond, paddling pool, or basement of water with buckets. Initially you are getting a bucket full each time, but as you get closer to the bottom, you can get less and less.
    As body fat gets lower, the body may be more tempted to dip in to muscle instead of fat when you ask it to give some energy up, so you don't try and make it give as much up.

    That is a good analogy.....I'm in no hurry to lose weight, I want to keep all my muscle if possible
