it is true --- props to KARICHELLE on that site. Something i am changing my mindset on.
(BTW - anyone feel free to add me as a friend, just include something in your message)
" I see the word "diet" come up a lot. It makes me cringe when I see it, because I hate the word diet.
Why? Because the word "diet" often connotes something that is temporary -- some sort of strange way of eating that will help you lose weight for the short term but isn't something that you can (or plan to) do every day for the rest of your life. A "diet" is something that you eventually go off of...and I think we all know what happens when we go back to our old habits, even or a day or two.
I hate it when people ask me if I'm on a diet or tell others that I am. Because I'm not. I'm making a lifestyle change. It might be my second attempt, but I'm going to be successful at it this time. I'm not going through this cycle again.
I wish everyone who is trying to lose weight and get healthy would put the word "diet" completely out of their vocabulary and replace it with "lifestyle change," because that's what it takes to lose weight and KEEP IT OFF -- and isn't that the most important part?"

The word diet doesn't bother me, but then again I just associate the word with the food we eat in general. I see people saying they're completely changing how they eat and call it a lifestyle change and in the same breath haven't a clue how to do that or conform to some ridiculous standard that seems to have so much generic content that is could only apply to a small percentage and still be successful. A lifestyle change is complicated, it's not something that happens when a few foods are exchanged. Lifestyle changes doesn't guarantee anything and for most is confusing and failure to comply can really mess a person up.0

Diet also means the amount of food a person eats. Doesn't always mean a low cal lifestyle. My child is on a special diet because he is allergic to dairy and soy. So the word diet doesn't make me cringe. Why would it make you cringe if someone said healthy diet? That is what it is, a healthy diet. I'll be on that for the rest of my life. I'm not going to be on a lifestyle change because my diet will be the same as it is now, no changes necessary now.0

I agree. I have a friend on one of those 500 cal HCG "diets" and she is not happy that i am on her butt about it because it is not sustainable. But I have to admit that I have fallen into the trap of trying to eat in a manner to lose weight that I know I would not be able to sustain, and I rebound......0

I agree. I'm not on "A" diet, but my every-day diet is changing to include more reasonable portions and healthier cleaner options.
On the other hand, I gained a bunch of weight in the last 3 months so I AM on "A" diet to get my eating and exercise habits back under control, then it will be back to adopting a healthier lifestyle. with my every-day diet.0
