I haven't run or exercised in about a month... anyone else?

I haven't run or exercised in about a month. I hate when this happens because I feel like I lost everything I had been working towards! And with the holidays/ finals week I know I haven't even been eating that great to compensate for lack of exercise :/
Just have to look at the bigger picture... what is that again?
Oh yeah, I am eating like a "normal" person- my life is not entirely consumed by what I consume on a daily basis. That is a big step!
My muscle definition since I started running two years ago has changed quite a bit, and I probably can still go to the gym on Monday and row more weight than when I initially started.

To be honest I am most worried about my cardio. Any tips on rebuilding it in about a week? Has anyone ever experienced this? And although I am eating like a "normal" person, I do need to cut back on the junk. Any advice??

It has been almost a month since I have exercised too. I got sick, after that I just had a hard time getting back into the routine. Then I had family visiting and I used that as an excuse not to exercise. I am planning to get back to it on Monday. I notice results pretty quickly so that is really motivating. On the flip side, I gain weight quickly when I am not exercising and eating right. I've got to stop doing that. I hope that you and I both have success!!

I have not been to the gym since November 21st but I ride a bike 2x a day and lift at home on occasion so I don't think I am that far gone. I should really go to the gym though....

Yeah. I hit a huge mental road block at the end of November. It has been tough getting back at it. Part of my problem was that I pushed myself too hard in November with doing a 10K a day, everyday. I burned out.

Now I am getting back at it, back to lifting, back to counting calories, back to not being checked out.

Yep. No running for just over 3 weeks. No exercise at all for the last 2.

I went for a run this morning. Can't say it was fun and I'm sure I'll feel it tomorrow but I had to start again some time.

Personally my rebuilding tip is just get out there and do it. If it's only been a month you're not going to have really lost much fitness, it will just hurt a bit more. Pay a bit more attention to stretching afterwards.

I stopped going to the gym the week before finals and started going again a few days before New Years. It didn't help that it was about 20 degrees outside with snow (and since we were trying to conserve our oil heat in our house before we moved, we kept our house at 50-55 so it was just freaking cold all the time.) So yeah, life happens. Just get back into your routine and you'll be fine. I noticed I was sucking pretty bad when I went back to the gym (too much holiday food), but yesterday I was pretty much back to how I was before with my work outs. Feel free to add me if you want. We can motivate each other through finals in the spring. Lol

Glad I am not alone! When it got too cold to walk/run outside I decided to just concentrate on calories. I'm still losing but man I miss it. I live in Indiana and it's just too cold, for me, to be outside. I have been wanting a treadmill just to keep walking. I have a video but haven't been motivated to use it. That and the kids and hubs are here and no one wants to be mocked while exercising. lol I'm ready to not be lazy anymore too. Good luck! Add me if anyone needs a friend who logs daily. .

If you didn't dread exercise to begin with, I think that once you actually get back to your first workout, you'll be back on track. It's just a matter of doing it. It seems like your crazy schedule is over, so just get back out there. Good luck.

Same thing happened to me. This is actually a good thing bc it forces you to focus on your diet.

I was on prednisone with horrible side effects almost all summer and couldn't run, in fact could hardly walk 10 feet without being in agonizing pain at times. Then I gained 25lbs after losing 40. That was very depressing as I had been running up to 10k, 3 times per week. The first day I felt well enough to exercise, I started out walking a mile, jogged 1 mile, then walked 1 more mile. I was a bit sore but mostly my feet hurt.
I'd say just try it and see how it goes and make sure you stretch well afterwards. You can add a bit each day, just like when you first started running. Good luck!

It's been 6 months since I exercised. We moved in august all my DVDs and weights were packed away. I finally found them. I was going to vet (still am) every 5-7 days with my dog for bandage changed and wound measurements (she heals REALLY slow).
I'm still watching my eating but havent worked out in forever.

Me too I am guilty. I must admit I hate exercise but know I must do it. I work for Drs and they all say how exercise is so important.

Me too! Things got busy in late November with holiday parties and social events, and my exercise regime suffered for it. And then I had 3 weeks of vacation and was out of the country for part of it. I haven't ran since Nov 30, eek! All that cardio down the drain. I got back on the horse this morning with an hour of powerskating, and tomorrow will be out cross-country skiing. Not sure when I'll get to run next, but at least it's no longer -30C outside, so that will make it much easier to get out there!
  • Yeah me too! I got sick near the end of November and then I had too prepare for moving out of my parents house. Then I moved and now I have to have some dental surgery. And now I'm starting university so I won't have time until the at least the third week!

Here!!!! I pushed my body a little too hard for a dance performance and once I started with finals, I took a break, and I am on my winter break. Sure I have done a work out here and there, but between the cold (I live in Ohio) and my asthma, plus trying to get my joints to stop hurting (I am still healing from the injuries I had last month), I haven't been able to work out and I miss it. Still log though and it's given me a chance to focus on that a little bit. I have one more week before break is done and I am back to dance classes (jazz and ballet), even though i start teaching cheers Monday to a squad.

Seems like the holiday season was compressed, so I was too busy with things and have been a Jazzercise dropout for the last month. I went this morning and really feel great that I did, even though I was sucking wind. I guess that's what January is for - to start to get back into a better routine. The year is young! You can do it!
