I have pork chops and broccoli for one meal, and a big salad for another. Which is best for lunch/dinner?

Doesn't matter, though I don't like a workout too soon after heavy(er) foods. I usually eat bigger at lunch, early dinner and workout by 7pm.0

In a book I read it said that your biggest meal should be lunch.0

Usually lunch. I go to the gym after work, so I have a protein shake or high protein snack when I come home and a light meal later.0

Depends on the day. I'm okay with doing whatever the day ends up being. I know some people do better with different methods. Usually though, my biggest meal of the day ends up being my after dinner snack ;P0

Talking daily, it's dinner.
Talking weekly, it's Sunday night b/c Sunday morning is weigh-in, gives me the whole week to work it off if I really splurge
Generally, however, I try not to overdo, any one meal if I can help it.0 -
Breakfast for me during the week only because I work 2nd shift and don't have time for big meal during work hours and by the time I get home it's 11 pm so just have a small something normally.
Weekends it is Lunch that is the big meal.0 -

That must be an older book, because for years now it is common knowledge in Health circles that it makes absolutely no difference when we take in our calories and in how many meals. I eat two big meals a day and not only do I feel fine, I also have lost 45 pounds doing so. My biggest meal usually is between 8-9:00 pm.0 -
Almost always breakfast. I'm a breakfast person.0

Dinner is always my biggest meal. I'm never that hungry in the morning or at lunch, but I need a good dinner!0

I made Pork Chops last night using this recipe, they were under 350 cal each, and OMG, they were the best Pork Chops I have ever had - used all fresh ingredients and made it from scratch.

Oh, yum! Putting this one in data base. Sounds wonderful, Thanks.0 -
Which is best is whichever suits you in terms of preference, energy levels etc, as well as obviously fitting in with family if you all eat together.
I have my largest meal in the evening. That meal and my after dinner snacks make up about 3/4 of my calories for the day.0 -
Dinner for me is usually the bulk of my daily calories followed up by my nightly ice cream0

I stay away from big meals completely. I do small meals through out my day because I have acid reflux.0

After a workout I will often have a meal with the veg for one and meat for four.
Mostly because I like eating .0 -
Do what works best for you. If you are consistently loosing weight the it doesn't matter when your large meal is or if you even have one. You might need to experiment a bit to figure out what works best.0

Usually dinner, which for us is around 8:30pm. I have read and found myself that there is no difference between when I eat my largest meal in correlation to weight loss.0

Changes every day. I just adjust with snacks.0

I shoot for before 6 PM, (usually between 4 and 5), for my BIG meal, and nothing but a little dark chocolate, or maybe some raw nuts, an ounce of beef jerky,<An ounce of that is a lot BTW), or if I am really hungry a QUEST protein bar...BUT never after 8PM.
That being said, I am 51, a lot of health issues, my exercise is NOT "athletic" LOL....I do resistance bands, select-tech weights with my Ex-Navy son 3 times a week, and deep breathing....thats it....so pretty sedentary, by most peoples standards, I'm thinking....
I think that what time you eat is unique to your circumstance...I don't work, if I did I am sure I would be eating later, also I know a lot of people can't get to "the gym" or their routines until later in the evening...and I think eating little before, and after a work-out is important. I know if I don't I get light-headed, dizzy, nauseous....but that might be just me....Good Luck!0 -
I usually have my biggest meal for lunch because I'm able to spend more time prepping it. Suppertime is chaotic with kids and hubby so it's hard to prepare a meal for them and then another meal for me (I like different foods than my family does). So for example today I'm having steak cubed up and pan fried with bell peppers and onions, and a large salad for lunch. Then supper will be a bowl of oatmeal while the family is having their big meal of the day. It would be more convenient if we liked the same foods, but it is what it is (how can they not like steak is beyond me :noway: ).0

In Spanish class we were always taught that one of the reasons Americans are fat is because we are one of few countries who eat our largest meal at dinnertime and have less time to digest, etc. whereas most other countries eat their biggest meal at lunchtime.
However, I am never that hungry the first half of the day because I don't eat around my 6am workout, then am on my feet all day at work. So dinner has always been my meal for getting in the bulk of my protein and veggies, when I can finally turn on my oven and get to work cooking
To each their own. I'm still losing weight, as are other people who eat their biggest meal at dinner. But definitely play around with it and see what works for you0
