Blender advice

Hey guys
I'm looking at getting a new blender and I'm stuck between a few choices. Nutribullet would be my first but I can't justify the price right now.
I've seen Hinari's version of the bullett - the Genie (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hinari-MB280-Genie-Multi-Attachment-Blender/dp/B000GG4MCU/ref=cm_cr_pr_pb_t#productDescription) and so far this is top of my list as it is a multifunction device.
What I'd love to know is do any of you own one and can give me an honest review? Who better to trust than you guys

I don't know, it's always a bit hit and miss with kitchen appliances. After my Ninja Prep, I'd probably go as gimmick free as possible.0

Black and Decker Crush Blender for the big stuff
Kitchen Aid Immersion Blender for the little stuff Good luck and eat well.0 -
I love my Vitamix 5200; it was pricey, even from Costco ($379), but I've never regretted the investment. It's sturdy as a tank, and it comes with a 7 year warranty. I have a friend who has a 30 year old Vitamix that's still going strong.0

Just got a vitamix (http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/product/Vitamix-reg-1363-CIA-Professional-Series-Platinum-Blender/202349?Keyword=vitamix)
It it pretty awesome. (My dog is on a home cooked diet and needs her food blended three times a day) So we use the blender at least 4 times a day and this thing is pretty awesome.0 -
I third the vitamix recommendation... I just spent the week at my parent's away from mine, and in trying to use theirs (i think it was a hamilton beach brand?) I felt totally okay about my $300+ investment. It took at least an hour of crazy loud blending just to make pulpy almond butter, which never really smoothed out. At home, my vitamix will make it in minutes, and i won't lose hearing. I've made smoothies, blended soups, hummus, banana ice cream, almond milk (twice a week now), and cocktails with it. Every time is quick and perfect.
I've heard good things about Cuisinart or KitchenAid blenders.. here's a good article: http://www.realsimple.com/food-recipes/tools-products/appliances/best-blender-00100000080761/
But seriously... if you use your blender for more than the occasional margarita, go for the vitamix 5200. It will probably be around for 10+ years.0 -
Perhaps get an immersion blender instead? It's cheaper and multipurpose (use it to mix up soups, sauces, etc, too).0

I have a Blendtec and like it but I've always wondered if I'd like the Vitamix more. I'm not sure everyone needs a $400 blender but if you like green smoothies and want them to be smooth, not stringy, I think it's the only way.0
