Hi - I am not crazy just battling AT.

I have been around for a while - made a couple of connections with lovely people but only now in the new year I managed to muster up the courage to actually introduce myself .
My story is a bit unusal - I am a former female jr athlete, in my 30s now - in continous battle wih AT(Athlete's triad) and its after effects - since I was 14 or so. Officially diagnosed at 16.
Whilst I belive I have a balanced life (good circle of friends, positve outlook on life, good job in one of the most luckies countries on the world) the shadow of AT is still hanging over my head.
I battle with DE (distorted eating - limiting my food choices for no real reason other than that old habbits die hard - extremely hard) and the aftereffects of my hormone issues.
Luckily my premature osteoporosis is under control (havent breaken a bone in 8years even thought I had a couple of close calls)
I E-N-J-O-Y exercising for FUN- I dont compete any more - but do a couple of FUN TRIATHLON's a year - short ones.
I love swimming
I really enjoy cycling
I still like rowing but only do it on the indoor rower (couple of times a week for short amount of tim) or when kayaking with friends.
I no longer want to beat the clock.
I belive that people who have a sedentary job should aim to exercise at least 45mins a day. Any kind of exercise - walking your dog, walking to he bus stop whatever.
I am annoyed by the weight loss industry.
I am annoyed by the constant message from the media gloryfying being thin.
I believe people come in differents shapes and sizes and that you are not just a number (weight, BMI or some other "fitness measurement")
I belive that even heavier people can be fit and healthy. I consider myself to be one of them. Or at least a continuous work in progress
I have weight to lose - no doubt.
But I have a difficult balancing act to do: weight loss in a healthy and sustainable way in light of all my other issues.
I make slow progress but I make some progress
I have good days and bad days.
I take my workouts seriously - I train with an HRM and sometimes with a trainer.
I suck at running - but I keep working at it.
I am lurking here most in the exercise and nutrition topics - I might be able to give advice in exercise but I definately need some in nutrition myself
