500 miles in 2014...who's in with me?

Hi everyone!!

I am not one to make resolutions in the new year but I do set goals. In 2012 I set a goal to run 500 miles, and I didn't consider myself a runner then and still don't. Needless to say I ran 471 miles and was 29 short of my goal *sigh*. However being the optimist I am I was proud of my accomplishment because it was all done with my own determination. I find it harder to run with a partner and I like the solitude to clear my head and push myself through it.

Now, I said that goal was set in 2012 so came 2013 and didn't set a running goal at all (shame on me!). So now it is 2014 and I am setting the goal again but starting from the very beginning **HUGE SIGH**. I have been on my treadmill for the past 4 days and am building myself up slowly to avoid injury and exhaustion. As of this morning I am up to .75 miles then walk about .25 mile then run another .5 mile. I will not start my count down of 500 miles until I am able to run 1 mile at 5 mph (12 minute mile). I only count whole miles so if I happen to run 1.5 miles I still only count it as 1 and give myself a pat on the back for the extra. This is probably why I didn't reach my goal on paper but I am thinking I would have if I actually counted all the 'pats on the back' I gave myself!!!! But that was my rules so feel free to make your own!

I am not fond of the treadmill but there is a pile up of snow outside and since I am not a 'runner' I will not be outside until everything thaws!!! Once I am outside I plan to be running 3-4 miles a day and signing up for some 5k runs.

So with that said, I was able to come within 30 miles of my goal 2 years ago all on my own but now I am looking for support and willing to support others. Like I said, I feel that I am below the beginner level as a runner but you have to start somewhere right? So everyone is welcome beginners or active marathon runners! I will post my daily run on my page and if anyone wants to join me feel free to add me as a friend and we will accomplish this goal together!!

So I am strapping on my running shoes and heading toward the finish line!!!
Anyone with me?!?
