32 and just had a heart attack

I was just released from the hospital 2 days ago after suffering a minor heart attack. Needless to say I am now back with my MFP family to get my life together for myself and my children. I have succeeded and failed so many times but I am determined to make this time different. You never realize how much strength you have until you are face with a situation like this.

I'm so sorry to read you had a heart attack, but glad it was minor and you got good medical care. Best wishes to you for getting healthier in the coming year.

I read your profile and holy smokes. This sounds so much like me!!

Been there, done the heart attack thing at 35. I didn't even know I'd had one until (no kidding!) a month later. I thought I had been sick and just wasn't recovering. Doc thought my EKG was wrong so had a second one, then enzymes, etc.

I had just finished my B.S. in Marketing and had been working full time, going to school full time, and taking care of my husband and kids while doing so. Needless to say, I wasn't doing a whole lot of running. I was skinny enough - 129 lbs - but my cardio was nil.

Note that most in my family have massive heart attacks by 55 and die. So here I am at 44 thinking I'll probably be dead by 55 but determined to fight that outcome ever step of the way. Because I'm better than them. I watch my B/P, my diabetes, and my cholesterol all the time and I run my *kitten* off - literally.

You can make the changes you need to make. You can do this. Not just for your kids but for you. You deserve success and you certainly deserve healthiness and happiness!!!

    Go you!!

So young, how frightening. Glad to hear you are looking for a positive lifestyle change. Always looking for a diverse group of motivators.

Best of luck on this journey!

My favorite line from Winnie the Pooh is "Oh fluff and stuff." That was what I started saying when my stuff was getting too fluffy to fit inside my clothes.

I'm sorry to hear about your heart attack, how terrifying for you and your family.

Welcome back to MFP, wishing you all the best xx
  • I was 27 and 25 weeks pregnant when I had my heart attack. Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection (SCAD) is the kind I had. It was scary, but has been the push I needed to get off my butt. I had no risk factors, it was just spontaneous, but I have been overweight since having my first baby 10 years ago.

I started running and love it. I also am starting the 3rd week of Insanity tomorrow. I want to be healthy for my four kids and myself.
