Attempting to get body fat less than 15%

Hi, so as the title suggests I'm trying to focus more on body fat rather than weight. I'm 24 and up until 3 years ago I was involved in a lot of sport, I was involved in a motorbike accident which meant I had 9months off work and lying on the sofa. I think nearing 25 it is the time to do something about it.
I started at 112kg around 18th December & I'm currently at 109.8kg/242lbs/17.2stone which is rather bad for a 5"7 person ideally I'd like to be 12 stone but I don't think I've weighed below 14stone since being 15...
Planning on a Wednesday weigh in.
I go to the gym 5 times per week, normally 3 days of cycling (45minutes or 30km which ever I hit first), arm weights and walking 2 days and swimming on all 5
If anyone would like to add me to reassure me that my legs are not going to fall off after sitting on the bike for 45minutes that would be great!

15% body fat is low for a female. Fitness magazine models might be 15%. Female body builders are lower, maybe 10%. Is that what you are trying to accomplish? It will take a lot of dedication on your part to get to 15% and I dont think you will weight 12 stone if you get there. You will have to spend lots of time watching your food intake to get that low of a body fat, plus workout a fair amount to gain that sort of muscle.
I am aiming for 22% and then reevaluate at that point. I am 5'4" weigh 157 lbs and probably 25-26% BF now.
Good luck with your goal though.0 -
I'd like to achive 12stone as a base point to start looking at 15% BF as it's an achievement i'd like to gain. I'm currently at 40% (need to check after the gym today) so i have a very very long way to go weather its achiving 15% BF or 12 Stone.0

ou should pick up a strength training program and stick to it... building muscle and resistance training will be the key to your success..(along with proper diet ofcourse)0

If getting to 12 st is the goal and reevaluate to determine body fat at that point, start doing heavy lifting now. It will help you lose weight and get you to the lean body mass that you are looking for. Lift 3-4 days a week and then do light cardio on your non lift days.
The New Rules of Lifting for Women is a great book to start out as well as Starting Strength. A lot of folks around here do Strong Lifts as well. No matter what program you use, pick one, and commit to it.
I have a trainer so my lifts are what he tells me to do but I have read both those books for insight into body recomp and general fitness.
Good luck with your goals. I am sure, if you stay positive and keep at it, you will get there.0
