Juicing - would like info

Hello. I'm watching a documentary on the myths and facts of dieting and health, and they mentioned juicing several times. They were saying that its a great way to ingest vegetables that you would normally not eat, you get a lot of nutrition out of it, and you can cleanse your body with juicing.
I was hoping someone could suggest some websites where I can get some good, healthy information with recipes or maybe a good book to buy?
Has anyone here had success with adding veggie juice to their daily routine or weekly routine? Any advice for a beginner?

While I don't buy into, the whole "cleansing" part of it, it is a good way to get lots of nutrients in one shot. Just remember you're losing out on the fiber, and if you use lots of fruit your also getting quite a bit of sugar at once.
Www.rebootwithjoe.com is a good site, he's the guy that did the "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead" documentary.0 -
I started juicing about a year ago and I wouldn't stop now. I juice as well as blend, if you blend you also get the fiber. I have one a day, never in place of a meal. I'll list some of the good things I've noticed from juicing and blending.
Energy boosts
Mental clarity
Focus (Great if you aren't a morning person)
Great for your skin, eyes, nails, hair (and everything else, dependent on what you put in your juice)
All of those things are obviously down to the nutritional content of the juice, but perhaps the best thing I noticed was that I dealt with depression I had from losing my sister much much better after I started juicing. Again, down to the nutritional content but I couldn't overstate how much those juices helped me to cope at that time. I felt like they gave me a real mental toughness, something I missed if I took a week off, but got back when I started juicing again.
Juicing does have its minor pitfalls, but you can avoid them and most of them depend on what you are personally susceptible to.
Juicing or blending too late in the day might make it hard for you to sleep if you have any history of sleep problems. I never have a juice or smoothie after 1pm for this reason.
Some ingredients might cause a little stomach upset until you are more used to them. A large quantity of cucumber or beetroot is fine for me, but wasn't for 2 of my friends until they got used to it.
I can't recommend any specific websites (I normally just throw out a random google search if I want to look for ideas) and I wouldn't personally recommend juice fasting. Calories in and out, fitting a juice in to your day with your meals is what I would recommend.
My favorite juice - Kale, beetroot, apple, celery + ginger
If I'm blending - Kale, cucumber, celery, pear + ginger
I prefer blending for what its worth, but lots of recipes work better with juicing. I just started blending first0 -
There is a MFP juicing group here

Good place for info, and to ask questions.0
