Just can't stick with the program!

I have had success with weight loss in the past. In fact, I managed to lose 100lbs in a matter of 18 months about two years ago, but then I fell off the wagon and have gained back about 15lbs. I'd love to get back to where I was, but I just can't stick with it! For me the formula is 80% diet and 20% exercise. I've had very little trouble sticking with my exercise plan (I run, do pilates or yoga 4-5 days a week), but I just can't stop eating too much! It's a real issue!!!
Why can't I get back to the mindset I had when I was actively losing weight? My motivation and willpower are completely gone but I really want to lose the weight! Any suggestions on getting that mojo back?

I'm in a similar boat. I'm trying it different this round. Since I don't have the motivation for eating that I had before, I'm not going to try to lose as quickly. If I slip up and have a Coke, oh well. I'll still be moving in the right direction. Would it work if you weren't so hard on yourself? Your exercise sounds great! Maybe eat better, but not perfect.

    Good luck!

For everyone diet is more important than exercise.. Since you didn't give any details to what your doing as far as diet its probably your too restrictive with your diet.
Look into the TDEE-20% method and ideas, learn about your BMR and how much you CAN actually eat without gaining weight.. learn your numbers... Losing weight isn't about eating a salad for dinner and being hungry all the time.. or not having a slice of pizza, or going out to eat.. its all about managing your food with your numbers.

I feel the same way. I want to lose 20 more pounds and it's like I cant get my eating under control some days. Add me and maybe we can motivate each other to say no!!!

I think that my goal should just be to not eat junk every day... but I suck. LOL
Each day is a battle for me and I usually lose it around 9 o'clock at night right after I put the kids to bed. Gotta get my head back in the game.

Stop thinking of it as a 'diet' and as a long term changing habits. If you allow yourself the foods you want in moderation you won't get out of control. The other day i was gonna splurge and found myself thinking the grilled chicken and veggies looked good. I ended up ordering something healthy. I believe it's because i don't really deprive myself

Try using a smaller plate so your mind thinks you have a lot of food on it.... also still have the foods you like, just have smaller serviings of them. If you try to cut out all the food you like and just eat "diet" food, you'll fail. It's not a diet, it's a life change.

Remember you were brilliantly successful at losing 100 lbs, and you've only gained back 15 lbs of it. Don't punish yourself.

A change of mindset might help. Instead of NOT eating junk and feeling deprived and like you're starving yourself, let yourself have one or two small treats in a day as long as it fits your calories goals. Hell, let that be your motivation for exerciseing if that works for you (I know it does for me sometimes) because you can earn the extra calories.

Also make sure your goals are realistic. With the amount of weight you have to lose, your weekly weight loss goal should be no higher than 1 pound per week. In fact, if you feel like you're not getting enough calories, lower it to 1/2 a pound per week because you're only 5 pounds away from needing to lower your deficit anyway.

You know you can do it. You know it's not impossible. Set small realistic achievable goals and most importantly, BE PATIENT! Good luck!

Don't make a diet plan. Make smaller permenent changes.

Check your protein. It is probably too low.
