Super quick tasty apple warmer

It's so cold here today, my body is crying out for comfort food. Other than a cup-a soup, I was wondering what else I could do when I noticed the bowl of apples on the side. I'm not a fan of fruit (wish I was). Though I can eat a raw apple, I don't enjoy it at all. Apple pie though is another matter.
Anyways - I peeled and cored a medium dessert apple, putting the segments into a mug. Sprinkled over a little lemon juice, and a liberal sprinkling of cinnamon. 2 minutes in the microwave, a quick stir - and a great winter warmer sweet snack, with all the flavour of apple pie and none of the calories.
As it's a dessert apple, it doesn't need extra sugar, though I suppose if I was a sweet tooth, I could have sprinkled a little sweetener on. I'm thinking 70 cals tops. It was yummy.
Would be lovely on top of porridge for breakfast too.

I used to do something like that. Cut up apples, add to the apples honey, cinnamon, raisins and cook in micro for about 2 mins. V good0

Thanks for the idea! I have an apple sitting on my desk that I may have to try it on... if I can find some cinnamon. Surely someone in this office has some, right?!?!0

Sounds fabulous! OK, I'll admit to my ignorance--what's a dessert apple?0

I did something similar with an apple that was getting a bit mealy,, it was very good and I didn't have to waste an apple!0

I use to do this with a couple tablespoons of granola or fiber cereal for some crunch. It is good.0

Thanks for this idea, sounds really tasty. Plus, it's quicker and easier than making a crumble!0

I have no idea what a dessert apple is either.
I'm guessing it wouldn't work for me though, as my favorite part of apple pie is the crust, lol.0 -
Ha - sorry - would you call it an eating apple? such as a golden delicious / pink lady variety - as opposed to the more sour cooking apples that I would use for an apple pie.0

ooh - I'm liking the idea of a bit of granola on top - ready made crumble. thank you!
Funny how you just don't think of the simplest things.0
