So when is the best time to weight yourself and how many times do you do it? Every week, every fortnight?

First thing in the morning, before you eat anything and after visiting the bathroom will give you the most accurate weight. After that you're also weighing the food in your stomach and waste in your system from your meals.

I tend to weigh myself whenever I want, but at least once a week. Sometimes I weigh in three or four times a week and sometimes just once a week, but the Wednesday weight is the one I record.

If you choose to weigh yourself more often, get used to the idea that you're going to see fluctuations from day to day. They're just a part of life.

I tend to weight myself first thing every morning, but only log it once a week (most often on Saturdays). As diannethegeek said, first thing in the morning tends to give you the most consistent results. I like watching my weight daily, and I don't sweat the 5 lbs fluctuations. It just gives me a sense of the general trends.
