Too much sodium?

I'm usually so focused on watching my calories and macros that I tend to overlook everything else on my daily breakdown. I just noticed however that I've been going way over on my sodium. Do you think it could be effecting my weight loss? If so could someone explain if you don't mind Thanks

I'm sure someone will come by who actually knows more than I do, but in the interim, I can tell you this: A higher-than-recommended intake of sodium isn't healthy for your heart or your kidneys and it can also inhibit your weight loss plan as the sodium will cause you to retain water, which will in turn lead to water weight gain. I'm sure there's more to it than that, but that's what I know.0

Just like anything else, too much or too little isn't good for you. The main concern is that products that are high in sodium tend to be processed foods that have little to no nutritional value. Sure, you may go just over on your sodium and just under your calorie limit, but did you eat anything that was actually GOOD for you?
I'm about to switch to bringing a lunch to work - I just started back monitoring my food and the choices near me don't offer much in the way of healthful choices. I've noticed issues with my sodium intake, too.
Too much salt can actually cause water retention. Here are a couple decent articles I came across:

I think you should definitely re-evaluate what it is you're eating that is driving your sodium levels up so high. A few simple switches in your diet could fix the problem and get you headed down a better, healthier path.
Good luck and happy fitness!

OP if you have issues with water retention then you would be able to tell by your extremities. if you feet, ankles and fingers are swelling by the end of the day then this is an issue that you need to be concerned about.
if they dont then just eat a bit more potassium and magnesium and drink more water.0 -
@ fyftfe - I think you summed that up quite nicely!
OP, looked at your diary and at least in the last few days the culprit seems to be your deli turkey. That could be an easy fix. Stop by the deli counter and see if they have a reduced/low sodium version. But ask them to let you see the label before buying because sometime there's not a huge difference. The other option is cooking your own of course but that's kind of pain in the rear.0
