New Job. New Training Program?

So I got a new job and I start tomorrow. It is a manual labour job where I will be outside working for 12+ hours a day, 6 days a week. I will be leaving home at 5:30am daily- back at 7pm at night.. So I would be going to the gym at around 8 until 9ish .. 5x a week. My question is.. If I was to start a new weight training program and cardio schedule now will that just burn me out? I'm so motivated to get back in the gym routine but I also don't want to just set myself up for failure. So basically I would like advice from those who are in the same position or who are knowledgable in the subject, thanks!

I'd hold off for about two weeks before you start the gym. You want to let you body adjust to your new job. Work hardening (getting used to your job) can take up to a month. Adding too much too quick can dramatically increase your risk for injury. FYI I see a lot of work comp patients on a daily basis. My advice is grounded in both peer reviewed articles and personal observations

Total non-professional opinion. I would agree with the above. Especially if you haven't been doing manual labor! You are going to be feeling rough pulling long hours of manual labor if you haven't already been doing that. Listen to your body. If you don't want to wait weeks, give it a day or 2 and see how you are feeling, then ease into a workout on top instead of going to a full hour long gym workout. Maybe start with some walking. I used to do 12 hour shifts, and I suspect you will start out being wiped out from the hours!!
