Does anyone do a food diary?....

I am thinking of doing a diary to log my foods and what i eat, I know i can log everything i eat on MFP but i wanted to use pictures at home, kind of to point out where i go wrong with some things... Does anyone else do this? If so has it helped you in anyway with your weightloss or was it just a pain?

Any help would be appreciated!

Thank you! :)

I'm not sure I understand...what is a picture going to do? If you want something to help you log your food I would say a food scale is a much better tool than a camera. The food scale doesn't lie.

I have seen people on here using a photographic diary of their intake, and they seem to have found it helpful. Never tried it myself. No harm in trying it to see if it helps you.

My DD uses this approach. It hurts every cell in my OCD body to see it, yet the results speak for themselves. She's losing weight at ~ the same rate as I am, and IT MAKES HER HAPPY.

    A nice YMMV example :-)

Another option would be to set up a free blog account (blogger and wordpress are both easy to use). I did this while I was actively losing weight and it was a good accountability tool

I have found the food diary as it is set up here to work very well. I can only speak for myself and think that if I had to do a lot more work to journal my food intake, like taking pictures and posting them, it would be much easier for me to fail.
I also know that if I eat over my calorie deficit I will gain, I don't need pictures to make that clear to me. I feel a lot of people over think and overdo things, because deep down they are resistant to the whole process. I would say to you to just start and log your food and if you feel that that is not enough, do something else, like taking pictures. Of course, if that is what you really want and are not going to say in three weeks that it's all too much work and you give up all together, I would go right ahead.
    Good Luck !

    That's a great idea actually.

Although I think my husband would think I've gone batty -- well, more batty than I already am -- if I started taking pictures of my food LOL

MFP is my databank for what I eat...I came here to do what you're wanting. I think MFP is chore enough for this type B personality...

After seeing "You Are What You Eat" (free on youtube) I've been wanting to do a 1-week photo of my intake for the week. I have a feeling that I wouldn't be seeing as many colorful fruits and veggies as I should ;) I hope to do it soon, it will be a challenge for sure!
