Question: 1/2 Way Mark - When to Start Toning

Ok so I hit my 1/2 way mark this morning at weigh-in and I have always said I want to get to my goal weight before I start lifting - but I am wondering if this is a good idea? I am losing weight, but not inches...

Suggestions Please?

    You should have started strength training when you started exercising. There is no good reason to wait. When losing it helps to preserve the muscle mass you currently have and keep most of your loss to fat instead of fat and muscle. Losing without strength training tends to reach the endpoint of skinny fat, which is a very difficult state to get out of and not particularly appealing physically.

    Also, it maybe sounds like you are putting off doing "lifting" until the last moment or you would be doing it now? It doesn't have to be weight lifting to be strength developing and muscle mass maintaining.

    Look at an exercise manual called "Body By You" by Mark Lauren. This is a bodyweight based program for strength and muscle mass maintenance, which may be more your thing.

    - whichever you choose to do - start asap.

    Hmm Thanks Guys! Been thinking more and more about it, but have ZERO clue where to start...was doing some stretch bands stuff @ home while ago, but stopped when I started doing Zumba regularly - now I have a Gym membership I am totally Lost LOL!

    This. Lifting has changed my physique even when still at 60+ lbs overweight way more than cardio and diet did.

    I sent an email to the personal trainer @ my gm hoping he can help me set-up a program to both tone & continue to lose weight

    Lots of good advice. Also, set your protein macro to ~ 0.8 to 1 g/lb of lean body mass to preserve your muscles as you continue to lose. MFP sets them too low.
