Does Recovery Require More Energy?

Hey again, here goes another question of mine, as titled.

I eat about the same amount of food/calories every day, training or not training. My training usually includes 35 minutes of weight, or 40 min of cardio, either running outside or a type of HIIT. I usually don't feel hungry in most of my days but from time to time in certain days I do feel hungrier (not TOM). My observation is this always occurs on the day after a more intensive HIIT or a heavier weight training session. So is it because the recovery from these new routines requires more energy hence hungrier I feel?

    I find that too...

for example today I am starved...but I started HIIT yesterday so I expected it and filling up on protien.

I have my calories set at 1600 but that is TDEE-20%...so I have some leeway there and will go up to 1800 if I am hungry tonight after supper.

So based on personal experience I have to say yes. Because normally I was only starved on my non lifting days, now Im hungry everyday....hehe
