Need advice on how to get 1200 on fruit & veggies only

I'm on 21 day fast which consist of fruit & veggies only. I'm not eating 1200 calories. Can someone recommend how I can achieve the 1200 in a day

Is this a medically recommended fast?

A few things to be aware of:

    Excess citric acid (teeth, tummy)
    Lack of protein
    Lack of fat

If you are going to do this, I encourage you to include foods like avocado for fat, green peas and split peas, broccoli, spinach, for the protein. You will likely not get complete proteins on this diet though.

If your doctor has you doing this, all systems go, but if not, maybe consider reconsidering this plan?

I'm not sure of the source of this fast or if it's advisable.

Beans are a vegetable =) Eat up.

Your profile says "Tired of the yo yo. I'm getting older and want to be and live healthy as possible for my husband and children.... I have 7 months to lose 30lbs. If I lose more terrific, if not that's OK too because I know change doesn't happen overnight."

A 21 day juice fast is 100% condusive to yo yo dieting, is not healthy and won't help you look after your husband or kids.

You have 7 months to lose 30lb. You can do it healthily and don't need some ridiculous fast which will not supply the nutrients you need.

And you know it takes time - again WHY the silly fast???

It is easy to get. One cup of rice has 200 calories. How about chick peas, kidney beans, pinto beans and don't forget your salad dressings. And nuts.

This sounds like a foolish and possibly dangerous idea.......

not sure why you'd want to....

but avocado is a fruit...plenty of fat in that
  • It's easy to stay under 1200 calories and meet all of the individual nutritional restrictions if you do moderate cardio for 30 minutes a day and reduce your sugar! I don't know why you would cut so many things out.

I am also doing the 21 day Daniel Fast to grow spiritually. I am following the book version though, which does allow brown rice, potatoes, wheat bread, flour, etc. as long as there's no yeast in it. If you are doing the fast for spiritual reasons, you will be fine. Pray continually and eat the fruits and veggies that you feel you need to. Ours is not a regular fast. No "yo-yo dieting." Friend me and message me if you have any more questions. We can help each other. :)

Rice and nuts are neither a fruit or a vegetable.

Yeah, is there a specific reason why you're choosing to do a fast? If your goal is weight loss, you can do that eating a much more balanced diet of foods that you enjoy.

Sounds fine by me. A plant-based / vegan diet can be healthy if you are careful to keep things balanced. I'm assuming that legumes are okay? Eat plenty of those.

I love roasted veggies and boiled veggies. Lentil stew allowable?

The only real issue I would be concerned about is that this is a 'fast' and not a lifestyle change based on good choices.

Give it a it more thought?

This! Eat food, work hard. It's about moderation not deprivation. Make lifestyle changes.
