Weight loss/detox teas

These teas are all over Instagram. I think Herbalife sells tea too. Any review? I hear Sensa is on it's way out for false advertising & fraud.

The only loss will occur in your wallet. Save your money, don't buy it.

You'll find that a large percent of the long time mfp-ers are pretty anti detox. Mostly because no one seems to able to name what EXACT toxins we're expelling that our organs that are biologically designed for that purpose can't handle. And a detox really only helps you lose water weight. Lasting results don't come from detox teas or supplements.

Just drink ordinary green tea which can be cheaply purchased at the supermarket. It is a great anti-oxidant and can provides a mild metabolism boost.

No tea can make you slim, it's all sales talk! If you're after a healthy caffeine free drink, try redbush (rooibos) tea from South Africa. Delicious, and has antioxidant properties.

Unless you're a recovering drug addict or have been exposed to heavy metals and are undergoing chelation therapy the word detox is pretty much meaningless.

As previous posts have suggested good old green tea is cheap, delicious and full of anti-oxidants (I'm very partial to the Japanese green tea sold at Costco). Save your money and enjoy a cuppa!

'Detox' teas usually have a bigger price tag on them then normal teas, but there probably isn't much difference.

I drink normal green tea, honey and lemon tea and pomegranate tea instead of tea with milk, you could try this instead.

It really depends on the quality of the tea. I don't buy into the "detox teas" necessarily, but I am a "loose leaf" only girl. The little sachets you buy at the super market are basically tea dust, the crumpled pieces of dried tea leaves the the loose leaf tea companies can't use. The packaging on tea bags is also not airtight so it can go stale rather quickly. Now I do occasionally still go enjoy a cup of PG Tips, but honestly my loose leaf black tea, or my favourite combination, black and oolong tea, beats it every time.

I did have a friend who drank 6-10 cups of Oolong tea (Monkey Picked Oolong from Teavana to be exact) and she went from a size 18 to a size 12 in about 2 months and didn't change her eating habits (though without changing her eating habits she's bound to gain it back one day if she stops drinking the tea). I do not in anyway endorse Teavana as I do feel as most they can be overpriced, but finding loose leaf tea in the United States is not the easiest of tasks so I often just pay the the extra price. I don't much care for the taste of green tee (to vegetale) but it can help increase your metabolism and the best benefit for me is that it wakes me up and keeps me focused (it only has about 5% caffeine of a cup of coffee so it's not the caffeine waking you up). If I'm being good I'll have a cup of matcha in the morning rather than coffee, but lately I haven't been good.

There are also Puh-er teas, that basically do as the name describes - Poo. And yes they will make you go, but it's a little to much like a laxative and it can happen rather quickly so for me I stay away. Oolongs with help you go, but they also help with digestion, so it's more of a natural thing.
