I hope you don't mind Trish! I started the thread this week.
Katie- Whew! I am glad your finger is not broken!
School starts tomorrow for us, so last minute stuff to get done today! We are starting a different online school for moy son tomorrow, so it's going to be a little challenging at first until we get the hang of it. I am a little confuesd with the process, but we will see how it goes!
Exercise- my running is going good, injuries are slowly healing. Weight loss is slow...but i guess that i what we really want right? I am trying to convince myself!0 -
Didn't keep track with last weeks topics.....would be awesome if this site had groups like what Myspace and Facebook have!
Anyways here is what has been going on with me.....
Sunday weigh in day - 162.2!! Which made my ticker go from 11lbs lost to 13lbs lost!!
That's even with starting TOM! I wasn't expecting a loss due to that. I do weigh myself every morning to track my progress and to get a better understanding of my body. This morning I was 161.8!! So my husband thinks that maybe my body was still retaining water but I just couldn't tell. Just have to wait and see once it's all over.
I have a goal to be 159 on or before Sept 12th. My 6th anniversary is on Sept 13th and it would be awesome to lose all my pregnancy from my first daughter by than. The rest I want to lose is just from the married life. lol
Wednesday I start my last week of Insanity!! I hoping I nothing happens to me where I can't finish it.
Once that is complete I'm starting Brazil Butt Lift. (Might do Hip Hop Abs too). I was doing Insanity & BBL at the same time but I had to stop BBL since I only had time for one workout program. I made a smart choice cause month 2 of Insanity can kicks your butt even more! LOL
My 2yr old is understanding that her nap time is mommy's exercise time. When I lay her down she says momma exercise and I tell her yesSometimes she'll pretend she took a nap and as soon as I'm down, she'll knock on her door (so she can use the bathroom). She usually tells me Good Morning Momma, Good Job Exercise Momma! LOL

Sorry, spaced it this morning. Got up at 9 & needed to take brother in law to therapy at 9:30, didn't get home till noon.0

Nicole~Good luck with the start of school! That is always a stressful time for me. It's hard for me to get back into the swing of the schedule plus the younger kids have a hard time getting used to the older ones being gone during the day. Which is always a challenge to not have my helpers but it is always a good thing for them to go to school and learn. My weight loss has done the same thing but I can't expect much more since I have not being working out like I know that I should.
Cina~That is awesome that you lost even with TOM sticking around! I always hate that time of the month I have stayed away from the scale at that time so I don't get discouraged. I think that is great that your daughter is so willing to help you out like that. I am going to for sure try that out with my little ones see if it will work so that I can get it in. It just doesn't seem to be happening with the friend lately so I think it is time for me to start doing it on my own until she is ready to do it with me.
Well today it was raining pretty hard this morning. I ended up having a neighbor take the kids up to school didn't want to attempt to walk in the rain. Got soaked just walking the short distance that I did to ask the neighbor. But walked a pretty good amount between picking the dd3, kindergarten, and picking up ds1 and dd1 and 2 from school. Plus the oldest 2 had piano lessons today after school so we walked them to the piano lessons. Their teacher decided to have them come on Wed. since they had friends that wanted to come to the house for some time. So for about and hour I had a total of 11 kids in the house all under the age of 9 years old. Talk about chaos!!! Kids are so much fun though. Love their friends that came over. Well got to go before they get into too much trouble.0 -
Hello Ladies,
It's been so long since I was able to get on here. I am very out of the loop! I hope you are all well and having fun getting read for fall routines etc.
For any newbies, I am Melissa. Mom of 3 beautiful kiddos, dh 9, ds6 and ds5. I homeschool them and 3 of their friends.
I am working hard yet hardly working as I get ready for school. I'm either so deep in planning I can barely dig myself out or I'm out playing w/ the kids. Trying to find the balance between enjoying these last few beautiful days of summer and getting ready for school lol.
Haven't lost any weight but haven't actually been trying very hard lately either. I'm pleased to have lost 5 this summer and maintained it despite too much ice cream and not enough running lol
My goals are to drink more water, start logging cals again and get back to the gym. Vacations over baby. 5 more lbs to go to reach my initial goal and no longer be "overweight". With the Lord's strength I can do it!
Blessings!0 -
Good morning! Wow!! I've been busy and not using MFP now for almost 2 months, and there are so many new faces here!
For those of you who are new in the past 2 months or so, I'm a part-time SAHM to 2, my son will be 8 Sept. 20, and my daughter is 6 1/2. I work part-time as our church's Administrative Assistant. It's great because I leave for work after they leave for school and am off work when I go pick them back up. And days that they aren't in school, I can bring them with me.
I didn't do much running over the summer. Too many days of 95 degrees and above with code orange air quality. The kids started school last Wednesday, and on Thursday and Friday I ran part of the way to pick them up. I was so happy that I was able to increase my distance by 0.03 of a mile on Friday from what I had done the day before. It's not much, but for me it's great! They're walkers again today, but I'm thinking of just walking because it's another hot day with code orange air quality. I'm REALLY looking forward to fall!!
Now that the kids are back in school, I'm hoping to get back on here regularly. I've really missed all of you! :flowerforyou:0 -
hi all! i just caught up on the posts. lots going on as usual.
nicole, how come you changed online schools? was last year's not a good match?
dd1 started school yesterday and LOVED her teacher. but she's still skeptical cuz last year teacher was nice the first week and then not after that.
plus, NEW school and NO friends is a challenge. i told her to pick one new person to talk to today and see how that goes.
met a neighbor! yay! and they have kids at home--so at last my little ones can have a chance at friends/playdates.
hs-ing mama's. i have a q
is 30-40min math and 30-40 min of language arts per day enuf for my 1st grader?
should i do 2 sessions of these basics?
she was done "learning" for the moment, but should i do more school later?
there is also read aloud time and 2 sessions of speech practice (dd2 has significant stutter).
thoughts??
well, my goals this week--not raid the school lunch cookies. drink water. exercise 3x
later chicas!0 -
Cina- What is brazilian butt lifts?
Trish- It's all good!:flowerforyou:
Melissa and Amy- It's great to hear from you! I think everyone has had an incredibly busy summer...I totally understand.
Stacey- We changed schools becasue we had to. The last school was only through 8th grade. We won't be changing now unless we really don't like the school. I hoep this school and teacher works out for your dd1!!! I cna't really answer about the younger grades and hs. We didn't start until last year at the 8th grade level. ***DON'T EAT THE COOKIES!!!!***
As for me, so far so good with the first day of school. I think he needs to get back on the computer though.....Check in a little later!0 -
Nicole~Don't know a whole lot about the brazilian butt lift but it is a workout video that is suppose to help "perk up" your butt.
Stacey~Friends near by is always a good thing. I hope it works out good for them.
Amy~Way to go on the running.
Melissa~That is how I am feeling right now. I haven't lost but I haven't gained either. Haven't been working too hard on losing. I so need to get my butt in gear so that I am looking even hotter by next year.
Well for me I have been trying to go faster on the way up and down the hill from the kids school. I have kept up going twice a day. I contemplated those lungs but decided I would probably kill over if I did them. I have been trying to drink enough water so that I know for sure that I am not retaining water. Well I best be going got to get back to the laundry.0 -
Hi all! Sounds like I am not the only one who hasn't been around for a while! It has been a good summer w/ lots of fun & things getting done but now it is back to "normal"(what is that?)
Welcome to all the new faces. Re-intro. SAHM homeschool mom of 4. DS just started college--Yikes. DD, 14 & 11, DS 8. We just started back up school this week & is going okay. To much to fit in the day though.
Stacey--don't eat the cookies. I have been telling myself that a lot lately too! I think what you are doing sounds good for that age kid. Just go with that & see if you can increase it a little bit later as the attention span increases.
Goals
Drink more water--avoid the soda
Go bike with the kids 1x this week

Good morning! I decided to run yesterday to pick up the kids. I ended up running 0.3 of a mile nonstop! I'm getting so close to my farthest run of 0.34!
I am so excited and have to share the lifestyle changes that I have made over the last 2 weeks!
I have discovered the Farmer's Market near me.It's every Saturday morning from 8 to noon. The whole family loves going. The kids get to play on a small playground in the middle of the market while we shop (they're extremely close and within sight and speaking distance). The kids also like to get the honey sticks from the apiary's booth while we're there. We love buying produce so fresh and usually organic. The organic meats they have are a good price too. As a result, I've been making dishes that I'm actually enjoying cooking and eating healthier. We've had salads every night for dinner now for the past 2 weeks. Even the kids are eating salads! Their salads are extremely small, but it's a salad!
I'm also getting into a much better routine than I did last school year. Instead of Tony taking the kids to school and then getting ready for the day (or going back to bed for a while), I'm waking up and getting ready while Tony fixes their breakfast. We're walking to the school as a family now. I've also set an alarm on my phone (I can lose track of time easily) to go off on weekdays at 5 pm. That is the time I start dinner. And now that the kids are older and taking showers (just recently), I start dinner while they start their showers. Not a day has gone by in the last week & a half that they haven't had their showers and pajamas on for dinner on school nights. It has also majorly decreased the screaming and yelling around bedtime.
Stacey - I hope the homeschooling is going well. I seem to know a lot of parents who have opted for homeschooling lately.
Nicole - I hope you enjoy the new online school.
I hope everyone has a great Wednesday! :flowerforyou:0 -
Katie- Glad that the finger isn't broken. But sometimes it's almost better to break it. I've hit my hand off the edge of the basket before, and I think it's the worse kind of pain! And you can't just start screaming right there in the store either.
Cina- That's so cute that your DD knows it's mommy's time. I wish my kids would let me have some time to myself. My 4 year old doesn't nap. Ugh.
Melissa- That's so cool that you homeschool your kids, and then their friends too. I admire that. I think I would go nuts with my kids home all the time though.
Amypyr- Those hot days really made it hard to do much of anything. I know we spent most of our summer inside, it was just to hot and humid.
Kim- Hi!
I'm really doing horrible lately with this balanced eating. I'm still watching my calories, but with my DS going to school and trying to get into a routine, my eating is suffering. I have such a hard time eating breakfast when I wake up at 7am, I'm just not hungry until lunch time. I'm going to have to force myself to eat something small.
That said, I've lost 6.2lbs in 30 days. I guess that's not bad. This is going to take a long time to come off, but I have to remember that it didn't go on overnight, and it won't come off that way either! Waiting on cooler weather to start going for walks. Back up in the 90's today, I'll suffocate out there.0 -
thanks girls. and ate the cookies. surprise.
i just stood there shoveling them in and talking to dh--unloading the day. it wasn't even bad stuff...just non stop.
clearly need to find better balance/outlet.
i do well until 3 or4pm---and then....
this has been a never ending thing for me. which means that i have not successfully changed MY mindset for whatever reason. it's all w/in reach....
enuf about that.
i know what to do and all that...
amy--i LOVE how you have implemented these changes for you and family! so tremendous! i'm proud to have watched you make these steps!
unrelated q--who do you use to make your photobooks etc? kodak gallery? snapfish?? any recommendations?
i've always used kodak, but sometimes there are big glitches with their site. so what are your fave places?
later--0 -
Stacey - Thank you so much for your kind words and support. You know how much I have struggled with will power and motivation. I can't wait to be able to post a pic that looks half as good as your profile pic.
The good news is that making the dietary changes and getting back into running, I've actually lost 2 lbs in the last 2 weeks.  I also walked to pick up the kids from school yesterday since I needed to be in my regular clothes for the afternoon and didn't have time to change. I was amazed at how much of a chore the walking was as opposed to running the same route. It felt like it took forever to walk the same distance! I had the mental picture of when in the movies, they have to go a certain distance but it's going to be difficult, so they make it look like the distance becomes stretched. Yup! That's what it felt like! LOL. I'm running today.
Katie - I hope your finger is feeling better. :flowerforyou:
Tandksmommy - 6.2 lbs in 30 days is great!! That's basically 1.5 lbs a week. That's a great weight loss.0 -
Kim- HEY YOU!!! I am so glad to see you!:flowerforyou:
Katie- Way to go on walking that hill! Your lungs won't protest forever!
Amy- YAY! on the new eating! I love local farmer's markets! I love that I support the local business when I go there. I think that is great that you are still runniing too. I know what you mean about hte running. Actually...I have found myself running in the grocery store,,,I hate going and it makes it go so much quicker. People really do look at me strange! Why walk when you can run right?!
Tandk's mommy- You will get into a groove...maybe grab a piece of fruit for breakfast? That might get you going on the whole eating thing. It's not much, so maybe? And that weightloss is great! I have been consistently on here for a year now, and I have only lost 26 lbs....it matters that you are making the changes, that's the important thing!
Stacey- I use snapfish....I haven't had any problems with it.
For me today...I need to start working on my cross stitch project. I didn't work on it all summer and it's for my mom for Christmas! AGGGHHHHHH!0 -
Oh, you guys, I am TIRED!!! I did a 10K on the treadmill yesterday and it just wore me out...
Amy~ that's so awesome that you go the farmer's market! The food is SO much better than anything you can buy in the grocery store. Good luck with your running!
Nicole~what are you making for your cross stitch project? I have so many cross-stitch projects hidden in my desk drawers it's not even funny. I'm almost done with a Christmas stocking (not cross-stitch) for my younger daughter though. My mom is sending me a package full of old blue jeans to cut up, as I need to make a quilt for the people who are renting our house in VA. They just had a baby!! so cute...And I have an entire dresser full of old Army uniforms that need to be cut up as well. I make quilts out of those, too.
AAAANNND I just found out we are having a party at our house on Sunday night (thanks, so much honey, for giving me time to prepare~!) so I better get my tuchus in gear and get to cleaning... Y'all have a good day!0 -
Yay! A group for those moms who are lucky enough to stay home and chase our toddlers while holding our infants, diaper bags and bag of groceries! I am new to this site, my sister-in-law posted it on facebook, so I am really glad to see people really are positive and supportive on here
I just started the C25K program on Wednesday (started at week 2). And have been adding sit ups and push ups as well!
My immediate goal is to be able to go for a 3 mile run with my husband before he leaves for a 7 week training on October 20.
My life goal is to become heart healthy and toned, hopefully losing the 15 pounds along the way. I would love to be able to run road races with my husband next summer while pushing the double jogger. I have a long way to go...but have family support!0 -
Question for everyone. How many calories do you think standing in my kitchen canning 12 quarts of tomatoes today burned? Man I am tired!
Well it looks like the bike ride this week won't be happening. It has been raining here this week. Maybe this weekend we will get some sun! It was our first full week of school so I am not surprised we didn't fit in the bike ride. I always forget how draining teaching, cooking, grading, doing laundry & EVERYTHING is. I love summer can I go back?
Stacey--I have tried them all for just photos--Snapfish, Walgreens, Kodak. For books I have done Snapfish & just tried Picaboo(free album) but I don't have it yet. I liked how I could do all the work on the album on my computer w/ their program instead of having to do it on line. Then you just up load the whole book. Good luck!
Amy--great job on the running & eating. I remember you going just a little further each day at the end of school. My how your perspective has change. :flowerforyou:
Nicole--Your comment made laugh out loud! I am glad to be back. Life is nuts ya know! Good luck on the cross stitch. My daughter is making cross stitch book marks for her grandma's for Christmas. Any ideas for grandpa's? We always try to make something instead of just buying stuff. I have too many kids is the problem with that!
Home6--Sorry you are wore out but it must be working. Awesome job on making your goals--you are almost there for the Sept 15th one--Keep it up!
Welcom JPotvin!
Tomorrow? Lots of water, plan my food for 2 potlucks on Sunday, ?bike ride?
Catch you later,
Kim0 -
hi ladies! thanks for the pic recs. and kim i got your note, too.
let's see. haven't done the exercise, but am keeping up with the house and school.. rt now the little ones are doing moon sand. cuz i am that crazy.
then it's clean up and sink/float experiment outside and then lapbook about the body. clearly i've made this afternoon science day!
congrats to all of you who have been pushing to reach those goals. it's awesome!
and welcome to our new girl--jpotvin. love that you want to do it w/ and for your family!
ate many pieces of wwheat fr toast last night--homemade w/pam. BUT did not raid the ice cream or cookies. decided it was better to just eat the fr toast rather than the real junk. at least for me. at this point.
and amy--that pic is from december---7# lighter than i am today. plus it's deceiving w/the way i positioned my legs and that i'm wearing black and charcoal gray. i too would like to look like my profile picture again!
maybe tomorrow i'll have the courage to have dh take new pics..
tomorrow i turn 39! wow--35 wasn't so long ago....
my goals for this weekend are to make a purse (w/dh's help---i always need help with my sewing projects) and go for walks. would like us to go to the pool too.
and i created mini-goals on my calendar with mini rewards--like a massage. i sooo want one!
my end goal prize is a new sewing machine! (i think)
and my plan is to get there by new year's eve.
ok, back to the kids and school
just in case i haven't told you lately, you women are the best support out there!!0 -
plan my food for 2 potlucks on Sunday----ugh!!##bring fruit salad? make whole wheat bread and bring low sodium deli turkey? tie your hands behind your back?? rt now, that'd probably be the only thing that would keep ME from overeating! lol
have a FUN time!--stacey
Kim0 -
Stacey--oh my you have lost it! Yeah pot lucks are NOT fun. I have this "friend" who knows I love pb chocolate chip anything so he brings cookies every time & asks me if I have had any. Yeah well if I eat one . . . you know how this story ends. However I think they are out of town. Yeah! Is it bad to be glad someones isn't at church. HA!
Our church has one on the first Sunday of the month. What is great(sarcasm) is that during the school year the kids have an all day away from home thing on the first Saturday where all i get is a sandwich so I am a mess and want real food by Sunday. I usually gain 5 lbs that weekend. ARG! Then it takes me all month to get it back off. Talk about a bad cycle.
The plan--take something healthy--casserole or roast & potatoes/carrots. Eat that and have 1 dessert.
The other one isn't really a pot luck but it is at my mom's so that actually could be worse because there won't be any choices. We will see what she serves.
We are putting up shelves in the garage--YES! So we are doing the big organize the garage tomorrow & hopefully get stuff in totes off the floor. I am SO excited & hubby is on board with it. It is amazing what one child moving out will do for a house. HA! No this stuff has needed to be done but this seems to be the time. Between that and moving mulch to my flower beds & sweeping leaves off the driveway I think I have gotten somewhat of a workout. YEAH!
Hope everyone has a fun & safe weekend.
Later,
Kim0 -
Week 2 Day 2 of C25K....jogged/walked 2 miles in 20m 54s....I think my legs are broken :ohwell: We live on the 3rd floor, so after that I still had to walk back up 3 flights of stairs...thank goodness there is a railing to hold on to/drag myself up with! Relaxed with the family for awhile, then took my two year old out for a walk with the dog. Guess he is sensing my motivation to run...because he ran almost the whole way around the neighborhood (about .25 miles)....he was really tired at the end and ended up doing a major face plant on the sidewalk.:frown: So sad. Needless to say, he's fine.
On another note...potlucks...my least favorite of all gatherings...not because of all the food so much...but mostly because I am a slight germ-a-phobe about food. I tend to eat before I go...that way I can just chat and maybe find something "safe." LOL Seems to save on calories too0 -
Party here at our house today. I hope I'm so busy doing things that I don't eat like crazy. It's all normal BBQ food, and I don't like most of what my husband's family makes (and insists on bringing) so that will help. I guess it will be a hot dog, fresh fruit, fresh veggies, and a drink or 2 for me. I'm big on fruity drinks so at least my drinks will include fruit juice. :-p0

Whoops- signed in under my old name when I posted this.0 -
Anyone want to be the new leader? I'm still on this journey, but haven't been as active on the boards. Would like someone who is motivated and will motivate the others.0

I will for a while Trish!
