Hello!
I've noticed that i'm constantly over my recommended sugar allowance (just by a little) because of the fruit I eat. Should I just ignore this because it's fruit and not sugary sweets etc or try to find something else with less sugar in it?
What do you guys think?
Thanks! x

I completely ignore MFP's sugar allowance. I think I triple it daily, haha. It's not accurate. Fruit sugars won't hurt you unless you're diabetic.0

I would, personally, ignore it.
I pretty much just track calories and have been pretty successful so far.
But there is nothing magically healthy about the sugar in fruit. It's fructose and glucose. It's a sugar.
But I would not avoid fruit either - it's healthy and yummy (especially fresh strawberries).
So... I'm left with:
"Eat fruit in semi-normal amounts, track your calories (since your goal is weight loss) and ignore the sugar metric completely."

Sugar = Sugar. Cut down on the fruit, try berries(tend to have less sugar)0 -
I'm am so in your shoes... I get irritated, every day I see a red sugar level in my food diary! It's hard to ignore it but I think if it's natural sugars it can't be harmful or detrimental to my weight loss, right?0

cut out sugar from the rest of your diet, especially fruit juices , dried fruit and cereals and keep the whole fruit!
whole fruit retains the fibre element that dispells a lot of the effects of Fructose!
Fructose is the bad guy you want to avoid!0 -
I'm over my sugar amost everyday. I normaly eat 1-2 oranges, 1 banana and small tangerine for the day and I'm -30. Don't worry about it...0

there is nothing wrong with sugar. don't listen to anybody who tells you that fruit is bad or that fructose is bad or any of that nonsense.
sugars are carbs. carbs are ready energy for your body. 1g of sugar (carbs) is only 4 calories. when it comes to weight loss, that's all that matters... calories!
only folks with a real medical condition that requires the monitoring of carbs should worry about tracking sugar. for everybody else, it's irrelevant.
the weight loss industry and lots of "chicken little" fear-mongerers are currently blaming sugar for all sorts of problems because it helps them make $$$ off of gullible dieters. that's what's driving this anti-sugar hysteria. it's all a bunch of baloney.
think about this for a minute... these people are saying fruit is bad for you. how ridiculous is that? i can't help but laugh at this nonsense, but i also know how dangerous it is because it confuses folks and leads them to avoid all sorts of foods that are perfectly "healthy" which they should be eating.0 -
Ugh, count me in. Between the glass of milk and banana I had at breakfast, I've consumed nearly all the sugar MFP allows me per day. Drives me nuts when there's that one red number there at the end and I haven't even eaten any dessert that day!0

Sugar is sugar. What isn't immediately utilized by the body will be stored as fat. No one here can tell you whether that is happening.
If it's just a little over and you're meeting you goals otherwise, no big deal.0 -
Make sure everything else is in check. Going over because of an apple isn't going to hurt you. I wouldn't overdo it, but MFP definitely sets sugar too low.0

Sugar is sugar...
Look for low sugar fruits or stick to veggies...0 -
