How many calories do you consume a day?

I consume 1200 calories 6/7 days a week. Every Friday I eat a take out meal.

Is this okay? And how much do you eat?

Are you trying to lose or maintain weight? If lose, how much do yo have to lose? Is 1200 what MFP recommends? Are you exercising, and are you eating those exercise calories? How tall are you?

MFP recommends 1940 calories a day for me, and I exercise 400+ calories a day as well. I'm 5' 10" and have about 20lbs to lose.
  • If you are looking to lose weight, as long as you eat at a deficit, then you should be just fine!

How long have you been trying to lose weight? Just starting or been at this a bit? Are you losing at an acceptable (to you) rate?

I started on November 25th and so far have lost 11 lbs. Is this good because I'm not sure.

Been eating the whole time between 1600 and 1700 and I'm not even going nuts when it comes to exercise.

I'm 5'5" 124 lbs and lose about 1 lb a week eating a net of 1600. Your weight loss isnt bad. A loss is a loss! Honestly, you don't want to lose too quickly or there's a chance the weight loss could dip into your lean body mass. Maintaining that will help you look slimmer as you lose weight. Maybe this can help. There's a section for setting calorie and macro targets :flowerforyou:

  • I think its great! keep up the good work. What type of program are you doing, just watching the calories and exercising?

How much - I - (or anyone else) eats has nothing to do with you at all. Everyone is different. We all have different requirements. Thus telling you that I eat 1700 calories / day and work out for about an hour at least 3 times / week does nothing for you.

With 50 lbs to lose (now 40) you should be aiming for roughly 1 lb / week. If you set MFP to lose 1 lb / week and you are seeing that rate then you are doing well. If you are losing quicker then you probably want to consider eating more. The faster you lose the weight the more likely it is to come back on.

I can tell you that at 19 you require more calories than I do at 40. I weigh less than you do right now and eat more.. this should tell you something.

Yes watching the calories more as I am putting it on MFP. I use a exercise dvd which consists of high intensity training and I lose about 200 cals in 20-30 mins.

I dont really restrict myself but with 1200 calories you can eat alot and with myself being a busy student I feel this is a good amount of cals to consume. I mean if I feel hungry I will eat more than 1200 cals.

I'm in maintenance and my TDEE is around 2,250 calories a day. I stay within that area, give or take a few in either direction
  • At least my bmr, which is 1700 :)

I eat between 2000-2400 a day, depending on how active I am. I'd die on 1200 and exercise.
