How long will it take for me to lose weight?

172 lbs right now
want to be atleast 120-130lbs
How long will it take me?
I have lost 11lbs in 6weeks.

eating 1200 cals a day
exercise 4 times a week losing 200-300 cals each session.

Every friday i eat 1 take out.

    Unfortunately, there is no answer to that question. Weight loss is a subjective thing. You can do all of the calculations that you should lose x amount of pounds in y amount of time, but there are so many other outside factors, that calculation will be wrong.

    You also can't put a deadline on weight loss. It will lead to heartbreak and a sense of failure when you don't reach it by a date you think you should reach.

    Focus on 5 or 10 pounds at a time and it won't seem so daunting. Also, you may have weeks where you won't lose weight or you may gain a little due to any number of things. Remain strong and realize that weight loss is not linear and a gain is not something for you to just throw in the towel but learn from it.

    Best of luck and you will get there when you get there. Never give up and never accept defeat.

    23 years old, 5'4, started at 164 in November 2012, reached 116 a couple of weeks before Christmas (didn't bother dieting over Christmas so have gained a few pounds back, am 119 now). So I lost 48 lbs in just over a year. I ate 1200 for most of it, went up to 1300 in the last couple of months. Went to the gym for most of it, stopped doing that in the last few months. I eat mostly take outs, pub food and microwave meals, with fruit as snacks.

    That reminds me, I meant to mention to make sure you're eating your exercise calories back (or at least some of them) if you're on 1200 a day.

A week before Christmas I got down to 179 didnt lose any and even gained a couple back but yesterday I got down to 177 so took me about 3 weeks but especially since we are females. Females lose weight less slowly then men and also dont forget about ovulating/pmsing

    Yep, I'm pretty sure you're overestimating your calories if you're thinking that day is 1200 calories. And why is your tea 400 calories? Dang!

    Tea is a saying 'evening meal' here in the UK!!!!!!!!!! why do people keep getting confused. What do you mean over estimating ? So i am i eating more than 1200 cals??

    Is it well over 1200 cals? The jacket potato with cheese & beans I have is 502 calories. So 502 + 400 + 83 = 985, leaving 215 for breakfast. Let's say (using some google calorie values) one slice of bread is 90 calories, 2 eggs = 160 cals, and say 50 cals for milk, so we're on 300 for dinner, so only just over. And that's assuming her jacket potato is the same as the one at the pub I go to.

    Right off from looking at your diary, I really dont see too many veggies or fruits.... Also you put down jam but it has 2 different saying one is 10 g with 25 cals and the other one is 20 g with 51 calories...So you had 30 grams of jam on that day? What type of beans are you eating? Yes beans are good and healthy but is it plain beans? Not saying you cant eat sugary flavored beans but just wondering...You are also eating alot of potato based products....you dont eat any other type of veggies?

    Hi love, well first off I have to recommend that you eat more calories. I am also 5'4", I started off at 145 and lost 20 pounds. I eat 1800 calories a day to lose weight. I exercise a bit more than you, but you weigh more than I do, so honestly our daily calorie intake should be pretty even. At that calorie level you can lose 1-2 pounds a week, which is a pretty ideal rate for weight loss! You don't want to lose any faster than that because it can have negative impacts on your body and you are also a lot more likely to gain it back.

    So my best advice for you would be to eat more, make sure you are logging everything accurately, and be patient! You will see results. Feel free to add me as a friend if you have any questions or just want friends on here :)

    I started out about the same weight as you. I stuck to it daily at 1200 calories and no exercise and in 6months I was down 30. But it takes commitment and focus, everyone is different. Oh by the way I ate every night some sort of frozen desert mostly in the form of icecream. It can be done. Good luck, and remember one step at a time.

    In the US which is where some of us are from we are not in the habit of calling our evening meal "tea"...we call it dinner...supper...

    When I think of having "tea" it brings to mind a British custom of afternoon drinking of actual tea accompanied by some type of "biscuit".

    I am sure that some of the terms that we use in America might confuse you...we should all try to be a little more tolerant and understanding of each others cultural differences.

    I would say, about 6 weeks to lose 11 pounds.

    Seriously, you ARE losing weight. I don't think you're doing it the right way (too little food, too much exercise, eventually you will stall out) but a rate of almost 2 pounds per week is considered excellent by most people.
