Girls Night Out with the Company

So as part of team building for 2014 my job decided to start a monthly girls night out. This month it's at El Vaqueros and my weakness is carne asada and margaritas. LORD HELP ME!! I know I could easily just not go to avoid the temptation, but I'm fairly new to the company and I don't want to be tagged at the stuck up new girl because I won't participate in team building events.
Soooooo what to do....what to do? I'm thinking of using that day as my cheat day. What do you all do when it comes to work or family outings? Do you avoid it all together or go and find the healthiest thing you can find on the menu? HELP.

If you do a cheat day, then that would be a good day to do it. I usually go, but do some things to avoid overdoing. I try to eat enough BEFORE I go, so that I'm really not that hungry at the restaurant & can order light. Eating before might mean eating at home before going, or bringing a light dinner to work to eat before you go. I drink water to the point where I feel slightly uncomfortable before I go to a restaurant, so any hunger pangs won't lead me to over order. I also try to check out the menu of the place before hand & decide what to order before I get there, w/a back up in case they're out or have changed their menu. If you do it before you go, you can check MyFitnessPal or other websites to get the right calorie count. But some things I know I can't start. If I go to a Mexican place, I decide ahead of time not to even have one tortilla chip because I know that *I* won't stop once I start. Also you have to be ready for people to try to goad you into eating/drinking more than you want, because just by eating healthy, it makes some unhealthy people want to bring you down. So politely decline & if they tease you about it, turn it around on them in a light joking way, "I'm beginning to think you're trying to sabotage me...just kidding...but I'm really not hungry for anymore." Avoid the alcohol, heavy in calories, but no real nutritional benefits. Or get a Virgin Margarita. Here's the menu for El Vaquero to check out...

Also, check out this website where you can click on various types of restaurant & they'll give you suggestions for substitutions. For example, corn tortillas instead of flour tortillas, or eating fajitas without the tortillas.

Also the Healthy Dining Finder is a great app/website...
