MFP tells me to have 1200 cals/day

but my BMR is 1420...thought I wasn't supposed to go below BMR?

    Eating at least your BMR can help maintain your lean muscle mass. (which allows a higher metabolism after you've reached your goal weight, as well as looking better at your goal weight)

    It's not recommended to eat below it, but you certainly can, if you don't mind the risk. MFP uses a calculator to get your numbers, but you need to use your own good sense to figure out what is appropriate for you personally.

    It did that to me at the start. I wanted to lose 1 pound a week but thought the cals were too low. I changed my settings to half a pound a week and got 1430. That worked for me. Reached my goal just before X mas started in June, lost 24 pounds. Also I ate back my exercise calories. Some weeks I lost more than 1/2 pound. I was consistent every week. Slower is better and you'l keep it off too. I am so much healthier and fitter now. One day at a time. Good luck xxx
