Hello,
I recently heard a trainer telling a guy, who said he had really wide hips, if you want to lose weight around your hips (mines are a 42 - i have a big butt and wide hips) stop doing squats and dead lifts. Is this true for woman also, and if so, what else can you do to lose in that area?

First of all the trainer is an idiot. You can't lose weight in a specific area unless you get it sucked out. The reason you'd lose weight/inches in those areas is because of atrophy (muscles decreases from lack of stress). And it wouldn't necessarily cause you to lose the wide hips this could be more to do with your natural bone structure.
As a side not do your research on what certifications and credentials a personal trainer has (Athletic Trainer completely different and actually requires a college degree but i digress). I would be careful if they have a certification from anyone other than ACSM or NASM.0
