P90X Day 1 and Diet... Has it worked for you?

Hey there! I started P90X yesterday and have changed my eating habits from constantly getting fast food and a soda addiction to drinking 10 glasses of water a day and cooking healthy. I am currently 5' 1" and about 140 pounds. I was very active in highschool and gained about 30 pounds in the last few years. I'd like to get back where I was in time for my wedding at the end of May. Any suggestions, advice, or anything about nutrition, P90X, etc? Thanks!

It has worked well for me! I am 6'1" and weighed 265 lbs. But when my son was born I made it a goal to not be the "slow dad" who could do anything but rather the dad running up and down the side lines. With diet and P90X I dropped from 265 down to 218. My only issue was that I became bored with it after a while and have found the joy in running. I did suffer an injury that took me 'out of the game' for a while which did result in me putting some greatly unwanted weight back on (plus the holidays...), but I'm back into it again. My only advise is the same that he gives in the videos. Do you best! Forget the rest! If you can't keep pace, or if you can't do as many, don't become discouraged, use it as drive so you can do better the next time. And also, do judge your progress on what the scale says - muscle (which you WILL build on P90X) weights 6x-8x more that fat, so it is possible to loss fat while increasing weight. The best of luck to you!0

I have had success with P90X in the past as well. And like Chris said, do your best each and every workout. If you can't do the move like the video, modify it so that you still feel the burn. AND WRITE IT DOWN. you will notice long before the weight comes off that you will get stronger and will be able to do more reps and/or add more weight each and every work out.
I use a website to track my data. It's called "90Daybuddy" http://www.90daybuddy.com. It's an easy way to track your data and print out worksheets of the next time. I started p90X again on December 30th again and have been using it since I started.
Good luck, if you stick with it and eat right you will get the results you want.0 -
Yes - I love the workouts, and stuck with the diet through my first round....it faded in the end, just got tired of it, but I still kept my calories in check...I loved the results. And yes write it down, it is awesome watching your numbers go up, and every time trying to beat your last one!0

I did 2 rounds about a year ago before getting bored with it. I saw great results and have managed to maintain my gains since stopping. I did not follow the diet plan, just made sure to keep my intake at 1800-2500 depending on the workout and my activity level for the day.0

I'm doing P90X3 and just following MFP for my eating. One thing I can tell you is that you cannot build muscle while eating at a deficit, so while you may get stronger (this is not the same as adding muscle), the definition of the muscles is going to come from having a lower body fat percentage. You will get stronger and be able to do more week to week. Make sure you are eating enough to support your workouts, and take photos of yourself and measurements along the way. You're going to want to refer to those on weeks when the scale isn't budging. Good luck!0
