Guys I would really appreciate your advise.
I joined the gym over a year ago with the plan of losing a little weight. I am about 10 1/2 stone and wanted to lose a stone. I have always been about 10 1/2 and thought that the gym would be the best way to lose a little bit. I go to the gym the minimum of 3 times a week and would say it is 75% cardio 25% strength. My diet has not changed in the last year, if anything it has improved over the however I have not lost a single pound in the last 12 months... if anything I believe I may have gained a pound or 2 :-(
Can you think of something I may be doing wrong?? Any advise would be majorly appreciated just to know there is light at the end of the tunnel!!!!
Thanks,
Em

Have you been counting calories?0

Exercise is for fitness. Calorie deficit = weight loss.
Since you haven't lost weight, you're eating too much (calories). Start logging/counting your calories everyday and go from there.0 -
Hi Kate,
Averaging about 1400 calories a day.... do you think that is too many?

There's no way to know how many calories you should be eating without knowing your stats (age, weight, height, etc.)
How accurately are you tracking those calories? Are you using a food scale/measuring cups to determine your portions or just eyeballing?0 -
Thank Nickyou, I will concentrate more on my calorie intake and see if that helps.
Should I maybe try a new plan at the gym? I should I just concentrate on the calorie counting?0 -
Do you weigh your food? If not you're probably eating more than you think.0

Count your calories as exact as possible. Use a scale.
You didn't have a calorie deficit, that's why you didn't loose weight.0 -
Honestly I do not weight my food.... clearly this is a big error!!!
I will try this for a few weeks and see if I notice a difference.
Thank you for all of your advise - huge help!!!0 -

No - keep everything the same. Changing too much at once just causes confusion.
Start using MFP to track your food. Use the website to set your goals - just use the guided goal setting for now. Set it to 1lb / week weight loss. Log your exercise and eat the calories the MFP tells you to.
Do this for about a month and see what happens. If you are still stuck come back and re-post. It is just hard for anyone to really get an idea for suggestions without any data.
