Polar watch questions?

Thinking of asking for a polar watch for my birthday but not sure exactly what I need or what they do?
Do you wear it all the time?
Do you notice it?
How accurate are they?
What do you like about it?
What model do you think is best?

I have a polar FT7 and looooovvveeee it. I bought it 1.5yr ago when I lost 30lbs. (got pregnant so I'm back). I only wear my watch when I workout. It comes with a chest strap that syncs your heartrate to your watch. It keeps track of your HR, caloriesburned, and how long you've been working out. Mine also has a "range" alarm, which is something you can set to alarm at you when you leave the "fat burning" range with you HR. The chest strap is machine washable. I love love love it. I believes its pretty accurate, way more than MFP.0

Not really sure about Polar. Personally, I'm a Garmin kind of dude. I know Polar is basically the same kind of idea. The answer to your questions really depends on what type of watch you get. And what type of watch you get depends on what you need it to do. Polar makes heart rate watches that do only that...read heart rate. They also make GPS watches to track your runs/walks outside. They have some models that do both, and each one has different features. Some can be programmed for interval workouts, while some simply read where you went and how long it took you to get there. Some are designed for multi-sport (triathlon) and have different settings based on whether you are running or cycling.
I would start here: http://www.polar.com/us-en/products. Just look around and shop a little bit. If you still don't know, go down to your local running store (running store, not Academy or general sports. Running and/or triathlon) and ask them. Or call Polar and talk with their reps. They will probably be more than willing to help.
As to your question of wearing it all day, there are models that are designed to do that. I do not because 1)it isn't designed for it and 2) don't want to take a chance of it getting busted during the day. That is my RUNNING gear. I am very protective (ask my family. They will tell you).
Good luck.

I have the basic Polar FT4
I only wear it when I work out.
I don't notice it at all.
Very accurate
I like that it tells me in the zone so I know if I need to take it up a notch or slow it down.
I like simple so FT4 is good but they offer all kinds of things as you go up!

Does anyone have a problem with their Polar FT4 sensor alwayssss going to zero in mid workout. It will zero out, then go back, then zero out. And i've read EVERYTHING about cleaning it, adjusting it, changing battery. Its so so so frustrating cause i rely on calories burned. Does it work good when you maybe put the sensor in back? I dont know what to do. Such a damn shame. Love that thing, but when this happens its the WORST.0
