Hey MFPers - I have a question I've always been a little unsure of, and thought you'd be able to answer it.
When adding food to your diary, how do you determine the correct calories for beans? For example, I cooked a batch of 1/2 c. dried mung beans, which doubled in size to 1.5-2c cooked. When I add the calories to my diary, how do I know if the counter is using dried or the cooked amount of calories?
MFP says 1/2 cup of mung beans is 106 calories... If I ate 2 cups of cooked mung beans, am I adding the calories for 1/2 cup? Or (4) times this amount? Maybe I'm overthinking... but anyone know the best way to tell?

I personally search for the USDA entries and then double check against the actual database (http://ndb.nal.usda.gov/ndb/search/list). I weight them dry and add that to my recipe or diary.0
