Too much protein? Or Cabs?

As I log into my food diary on a daily basis, I am finding that my protein level is OVER my set limit and my carbohydrates seem high as well. I usually ignore it but in the back of my mind I have always wondered: is it bad for those levels to be so high? How do I prevent this from happening? It seems that my protein is raised very easily. One chicken breast and it is through the roof!

I have read that MFP sets protein levels low and I've read of members re-adjusting them. I have not done this for my own protein yet because I rarely meet what is set for me to begin with.0

I mean but is it a bad thing for it to be high? Either one? Thank you!!:flowerforyou:0

High carbs = Bad.
High Protein = Good.
The MFP settings for Protein are way to low and the carbs are way too high in my opinion. So if you are going over on both then you need to redure your carbs a bit and maybe increase protein. How is your Fat? If your Fat is way below the recommended levels then you may need to up that aswell. Remember you NEED the good fats to be healthy so a super low fat diet is actually very bad for you. And fat eaten does not equal fat on your body, but fat does have a lot more calories per gram than Carb and Protein.0 -
MFP tend to under value protein. For weight loss you really should be "over" on protein for what the site says. I'm using the 1.5 times your body weight formula that seems pretty accepted for weight loss and toning muscles. I do a protein shake after work outs.
Carbs can be bad to be over in if you're really over because your body can be storing them if you're not eating complex carbs and using them by exercising.
I'm sure someone has aired scientific answer.0 -
My fat is normally right on or a little over, varying by day. With all your helpful answers, I am confused... haha. So how much protein should I be consuming? And should I stay at the specified amount of carbs according to mfp?0

You should consume somewhere in the ball park of 1.5g of protein for each kg of body weight .
1 kg = 2.2 lb
So if you are 155 lb (just using an easy number!!!) that means you are 70 kg so you should be eating around 105g protein each day. And that is a Minimum!!!0
