I'm currently 23 years old and 5'5". I've never been an obese girl but I've always had a pooch. Throughout the years I've put on over 20 pounds which i just now lost. Which I'm thrilled with but I'm definitely not to my goal weight which is 125. I am 140 right now.....I just want to know if I stick with eating healthy and doing moderate exercise that i can lose my belly and tone up my entire body including my stomach. I would love visible abs. I just feel like I will never achieve the tight abs look. Any tips and advice would be appreciated.

Good luck with your goals!! The only advice I can give for toned abs is LOTS and LOTS of ab work. definition will come once you've lost the weight and are ready to be toned. Ladies have a hard time getting the definition sometimes due to excess fat storage but enough hard work, you can go it!!0

thanks!...ive been really watching what I eat and also counting calories I do eat back some of my deficit. I have been doing the jillian michaels 30 day shred and I've loved it so far. I've never wanted abs so bad in my life lol0

No. Just no.
Targeted ab work will not make a difference. Crunches and sit ups? NO.
What you need to do is eat at a caloric deficit which will allow you to lose fat. While you do so, perform FULL BODY resistance training that will help you retain your lean muscle mass.
You could do body weight exercises. You could lift weights. You could utilize popular at home DVD work outs. Whatever you like, just make sure you aren't sticking solely to cardio.0 -
thanks. Ive been doing the 30 day shred by jillian michaels which incorporates cardio strength training and abs. So far I like it but eventually once I'm more in shape I was thinking of doing crossfit for women. My boyfriend works out all the time and is in great shape so it pushes me to want to better my body and be healthy. I've never had a positive outlook on my body. So im really trying to focus on shredding the fat all over.0

Just make sure you're tracking accurately. Stick to your plan. Be patient and your abs will show up.
Why not do Crossfit now? I understand that the workouts are flexible for varied skill levels.0 -
true. I could start. I want to finish the jillian michaels dvd first just to see what kind of results I'll get with just moderate exercise but I definitely want to amp up my workouts after this dvd. I would love to see at least a tight tummy by may...is that realistic?0

I don't really know what your body looks like or what your intake is and other details to really say how realistic that goal is but generally speaking, if you are very strict, and consistent that *should* be enough time.

I've always carried my weight in my stomach and thighs. my arms are already toning up and so are my calves. I wear am in between in pant sizes they range from size 4-8.0
