Hello all,
So I’ve read several others introductions and thought that it was time to do my own.
I am new to the site, signed up 6 Jan ’14; the major thing that I have taken from my journey so far has been the food log. I knew that I was sabotaging myself with my diet but until I started logging my intake I didn’t realize just how bad I was to myself.
I use to be extremely active but for the most part have always been chunky, even when I was active. Several years ago I was in an accident and was bedridden (or couch) for close to a year. Before the accident I had let myself go but I had started to get back into shape, I was weighing about 185 when I went in the hospital and by time I was able to get active again, I was up to 240ish. I’m currently around 220 and hope to get to 180 in a reasonable amount of time.
I need to get back into proper shape for my family, my kids (especially my son) see me as a sort of roll model (or at least I keep telling myself that) and I coach my son in soccer as well and baseball. I need to set an example that they both can learn from and follow. I can’t be telling them to do one thing and then do something different.
My biggest change since the New Year is no vino or beer, that and using the logs has already got me on track. I was doing some crazy circuit training that should have had me looking right but like I said, without logging my intake, I was sabotaging myself. My workouts had to be toned back due to outside factors, but even with working out less I have been able to lose weight by watching my intake.
I am so positive that this site will aide me in getting to where I want and need to be.
My first goal will be to get to 180~ once there I have a second goal of running in the wounded warrior marathon for a friend of mine who is no longer with us. Those are my midterm goals, my long term goal is to get in to nutrition and work with children’s nutrition as well as coaching.
Thanks to anyone who has taken the time to read my ramblings, you’re awesome!
Best wishes in your endeavors.
