GO RUCK!

Anyone training or trained for Go Ruck Challenge? I am planning on training for an event and have some questions about exercises and shoes.

I've done a Go Ruck light...it is intense...couldn't imagine doing a full and ultimately it wasn't my thing so I won't be doing one again (I was in the Marine Corps once upon a time and it was a lot like that...don't really need to re-live those experiences). To train for it, I pretty much followed the training plan on their website; a lot of the other people on the team were into crossfit. I would recommend some quick wick socks for when you get wet...I still ended up with some nasty blisters. I just wore my running shoes.

Thanks for reply. I have not committed to a Challenge or any event for that matter. Right now I just want to train. Time to get back in shape. Its been 10 years without hitting the gym.

They're training template on line is a pretty good 6 weeks and gets progressively more difficult as you go along. They also have their WODs posted and a lot of those are pretty rockin' as well and I still do them from time to time.

I do think doing a challenge or light is totally worth doing at least once...it's an experience to be sure.

Yeah I follow the WOD post and have printed out the 6 week training. Just got to get started. LOL! I have two sons in the military that give me the motivation to PT and get my ol' *kitten* back in shape.

I have a crossfit friend who went on some ruck hikes (just carrying bricks around, but not the crazy 24 hour challenge, so I did some research on what it was. Holy crap, it looks crazy. Good luck with training, and if you do a challenge, I'd love to hear about it afterwards.
