it's as big of a deal as a the thigh gap.

which is to say, not at all.
  • No. I read an article about it the other day. It's a hoax started by people on 4Chan. It's not a real "thing."

Actually, news reports are now saying that this was a social experiment set up by a bunch of internet trolls who flooded various social networking sites with posts alternately supporting or condemning the phenomena. While it isn't a new term by any means, the fact that it is now trending on social media is a deliberate hoax.

Well, that's dumb. In my world, a bikini bridge means you can't keep your swimsuit on while in the waves or surfing. Not interested.

    Yep. See: http://www.dailydot.com/lol/bikini-bridge-4chan-hoax/
  • I have a question...why would anyone really want that? Skeletor, maybe?

I will post here exactly what i said in a thread about this the other day:

Oh good. Like the pro ana girls didn't have enough stupid body crap that men don't really care about to fret over...

4chan idiots stirring the pot, working both sides of a non-issue.

It is totally a "thing". I verified it on Tumblr, memes out the wazoo.

It is probably super important i obtain that (being that the miniscule area of bathing suit coverage a two piece offers is just far too much). I am toying around with the idea of hipbone implants.

Just sit back and watch how much of a deal it is.

It's a hoax, it's a confirmed hoax, there's no denying that it's completely made up just to watch people get all worked up over nothing.

This is the second time there's been a thread on it. The last one was 2 days ago. It got hundreds of replies of anger and incredulousness. Even while time after time people were pointing out it was a hoax.

Give it about...6 posts. Someone will once again say that bodies that thin are gross, someone else will pounce on them for body shaming, and the whole cycle will. Start. Over. Again.
    6? already happened:flowerforyou:

oh, well the pouncing hasnt happened yet... so you've got half so far...

There was a thread about it here earlier this week, but I believe most just disregarded it.

I believe if you actually read what he posted you would see he was against 4chan for how they started this crap.

Never heard the term before, but way back when I was skinny my hip bones poked out quite a bit. Hubby use to tease me about it actually.
I don't think it's a big deal. I think we need to give ourselves more credit than the media does. I'm certainly not going to starve myself to get a bikini bridge, or thigh gap or anything else. We are going a little over board to the point where any image of a fit or thin person is said to cause body shaming and eating disorders.

The main thing that annoys me is that we live in a world where every little thing has to be examined for the massive damage is could do. It was a prank. People should get the **** over it. Folks are always looking for the next thing to get bent out of shape about.

    Okay, I love that pic.

BUT... if my jimmies start rustling, won't that blur my "down the bikini bottoms" selfie?

Oh, someone needs to start a new thread about that...
