proudest non-scale victory

i joined MFP in may 2013 right after starting a new job with a new company. this job introduced commuting via public transportation, which in turn, got me off my large a**. since may, i have lost a great deal of weight. 70 pounds or so with MFP, another 10 prior. so about 80 pounds since starting the new job. appropriately, i am a much happier, healthier girl.
as i shed the weight, i became more active and confident at work - i joined activity committee and recently decided to launch a version of the biggest loser at work. the program goes live next wednesday, 1/15/2014. now, this is a huge company in a busy downtown office and i am the face of this program. if you would have mentioned a biggest loser-type program to me one year ago, i would have cowered in shame. i was not doing anything to better my life and i would have certainly not weighed myself in front of ANYONE. i would have dodged the topic entirely and wished for it to go away. now i am developing, launching and running the program. and i am beyond excited.
this is my biggest victory to date. the scale numbers are lovely, but this is me believing that i am better than my weight. i am strong enough to help other people, even if i am not a size zero. i have the capability to inspire others around me to better their lives on a topic that i avoided for MY ENTIRE LIFE.
this is power. this is accomplishment. this is living. i am actually living a life i am proud of and not simply killing time. this is freaking awesome.

That is really a great victory. You are not only getting healthy yourself but creating an infectious environment where others will follow your lead and get healthier.
Way to go, keep up posted on the progress.0 -
Wonderful story. Losing a lot of weight is great, but you must be so proud of the leadership position you're taking, as well. Congratulations, and may what you're giving to your co-workers come back to you in spades!0

so far the program is going great! we have 15 people signed up and everyone seems really motivated. our first weigh-in was a success with everyone losing!
afterwards, we have a wrap session about the previous week: what worked, what did not work. who had a cheat day? who had a non-scale victory? everyone was real honest and seemed to enjoy a place where they could voice their feelings on a clearly personal issue. i felt very empowered being able to discuss weight-related issues with everyone - a topic that i completely hid from in the past. i feel like i am living. like i have my life back!
this week's project was to find a non-scale victory and share it next week. next week i was thinking of everyone coming up with non-weight related goal. for example, i want to play tennis. rafael nadal is my inspiration and motivates me forward. if people can come up with a goal that is possible and does not have to do with the scale, i was thinking it could be positive.
anyone have suggestions for other projects? to focus on change and inner beauty versus what a scale says?0
