Slow but steady weight loss

The last couple of weeks my weight has really started slow right down, I stayed the same about two weeks ago and in the last two weeks my weight has just dropped a pound a week. Which happy I'm losing and I know the slower the better and it could be that I'm putting muscle on but my fat percentage hasn't really shifted much. I'm just worrying that I'm nearly on the verge of hitting a plateau. Anyone else get disheartened by slow weight loss? I think I just need to keep telling myself I'm going in the right direction. I'm new to MFP, am I right that I eat all my exercise earned calories as well as along as I stay in my calorie amount?

Thanks in advance.

Mine slows down for a couple of weeks then another week I will be down 2-3 pounds. I do not mind this so much. Yes at times it seems to go a snails pace. But as long as I am not gaining and am losing I am happy. If you are worried about a plateau try shaking up your workout a bit see if that helps.

I read your post and your profile and you sound very similar to me. I used to to weight watchers and I find that it works until a caertain point but I could never get below10st 3. I stopped WW and now use this site and I love it!

The thing that stopped my plateau was cutting out the 'diet foods' that I consumed in abundance on WW as they were low in points. What I found though was that they weren't very good for me, laden with articficial sweetners which reek havoc with your sugar levels and metabolism, just a waste of calories really.

I also started eating little and often ( every 3ish hours). You must be sure to eat lean protein each time you eat but doing this fires up your metabolism - it really does work.

Your profile say you want to build a more muscular physique - me too. The only way to do this is resistance/strength training. Weight training is great because it also raises your RMR so your body is burning calories for hours after you've stopped working out where as with cardio as soon as you stop exercising your body stops burning extra calories.

You have done so well but I know how frustrating it can be when the wweight doesn't come off as quickly as it used to. If you can try the things I've said, it's working for me so it may do the same for you:wink:

Mine will be nothing or like 2/10ths of a lb for a couple of weeks then BOOM a 2-3 lb drop. I'll take it though...it is better than gaining!!!
  • Thanks for all your replies, I'll defiantly take one board your advice and I think I'm going to WW behind and just stick to this. More strength and cardio work here we come!!

I dont think you are platueauing if you're losing. That only happens if you lose nothing for about a month.

Us women have such vast water fluctuations within a monthly cycle, sometimes it just doest seem as if we're losing much. But like a few ladies have said, after a slow couple of weeks, it can just whoooosh away and you'll see 2 -4lbs loss.

Keep a tape measure handy. Try on a pair of jeans. You should find you're losing inches

    Good luck :flowerforyou:
