Im feeling very down and disheartened and scared and like giving up. Worried that i cant get to my goal because of my shape. What i mean is, i am literally like a marshmallow with toothpicks in it for arms and legs. ALL upper body. its ridiculous. So small in the lower body. I know you can't 'spot lose'. So what i fear is that, sure, i'll lose weight, but i'll lose it from upper body and lower body too and still have the dreaded circle shape =[
is it possible to remedy this somehow? get more shape in the waist, less weight up top?

no, your body shape is your body shape and it's genetic. sounds like you're top heavy or what's called an apple shape

what you can do is do lower body training to make your body look more balanced. things like squats, deadliftts, hip bridges, step ups, calf raises, etc.
check out the book strong curves which is pretty much all about training tips to create a great lower bdy0 -

Unfortunately, you can't.
But you can help by making sure you drop fat rather than more muscle by introducing a progressive heavy lifting programme into your exercise regime.
Until you get to your goal weight and shape, you'll just have to live with it I'm afraid.
