Overeat question.

Hi there. I am nowhere near new to the world of losing weight, but I am a novice in losing weight the correct and healthy way (eating disorder in the past). If you look in my diary yesterday you can see that I went over quite a bit in my calories (900-1000). I was actually 900 under until dinner when friends invited us over. I planned to bake fish and have a salad at home and instead had a piece of high calorie pizza, wings, and 3 drinks with munchies. I'm not really beating myself up too much as it was a fun night and life happens. However I worry that I am getting into a pattern. I have been hitting the gym for HIIT workouts and when I go over cals I go to the gym, and then maybe go over that day and then go back to the gym the next day because I was over.
If it were you would you just shrug it off to "life happens" learn from it and just start anew, or would it be better to eat on the lighter side for a day or so? I do plan to really hydrate and have some potassium rich foods today from all the sodium, but so far that's my only plan. Any advice appreciated!

I generally eat a bit under for the next couple of days, unless it would be particularly awkward to do so, in which case I just ignore it and move on. If you find eating a bit under difficult it's probably best to ignore it, but I'm quite happy to eat under. I ate about half my calories the other day to make up for the huge amount the day before, and felt no different to when I eat all my calories.0

I have one "treat day" a week where I can eat whatever I want (pizza is a favourite!
) I actively aim to go over on that day and it's not a big deal, I then just eat my normal calories the rest of the time. The odd day won't hurt at all, it's when it gets to be every day that it's an issue. I've found that I lose weight just fine doing this as long as I keep to the cals and exercise often. There are a lot of days where I'm either under or a little bit over but I see it as it's *still* way less than I was eating before and it's much healthier choices, so if I'm 100 cals over on the odd day, it's a tiny amount compared to the 1000 or so it would have been before!

By checking the reports tab, you can see how you've done for the past week. If you were below goal for a couple of other days, then I'd just call it even and move on. If you've been over your goal, then it'll help to reduce for a day or two or add to your workout.
We are all going to have occasions when we treat ourselves. We can live the rest of our life without enjoying something yummy on occasion. The key is to balance those days out with healthy ones. I know, much easier to say than do or none of us would be here.0
