Most of this is not anything we haven't heard before, but #1 made me curious if it's actually true. I've heard chewing gum before or in between meals is suppose to help keep you from eating, but this is the first I've heard that chewing it "after" a meal reduces calorie consumption.

    Probably prevents boredom munching or nibbling while doing the cleaning up. If you're mindlessly chewing on a piece of gum, you're less likely to find something else to eat. Also, you might think twice about having that dessert later on.

    I've heard this before. I think you start chewing the gum when you first feel satisfied by the meal, so you won't continue to pick at the rest of the food on your plate just because it's there. Or get seconds because the food was so yummy.
